DVC Beach Club Check In Desk

If anyone will be checking in soon, please let us know if we DVC members get to choose our check-in lcation or are being forced to use the BCV desk only. Thanks!

Might be worth giving it a chance to sort out before drawing conclusions. Although I thought sharing common infrastructure made sense from a cost and operations perspective. So this seems a step in a different direction.

We are scheduled for a short December stay at BCV. I guess that DVC valet parking and bell services still are combined at the BC entrance?

It would be far better if they allowed us to check in on-line or at kiosks and avoid the lines altogether.

One last thought just for fun -- should we "non-paying" members complain about the paying guests who check-in at SSR, OKW, VB and HH :rotfl2: Maybe we could get them moved elsewhere...

My mom, DD5 and I went down for a quick 4 day trip in August and had to check in at BCV desk. I wish I had been able to see the sign past the other cars when I pulled up at the valet because I wouldn't have had Bell services take all our luggage. Once he had it all loaded, THEN he told me that I had to check in at BCV desk. It would've been easier to have self-parked and left the luggage in the car. But since we were planning on the room not being ready, and going straight to the pool, I didn't want to deal with going back to the car and getting the luggage so I had used the valet. Then when we got the the desk I couldn't pay cash for the dining plan. I was able to check in, but then had to go over to the front desk at BC and wait in line again to pay for the plan. I was a little irritated, but got over it. I just think the desk area at the BCV is a little small when two people are trying to check in, they are right on top of each other.

Noone has posted to this thread in a little while, so I thought I'd start it up again and see what experiences people have had since the F&W Festival got in full swing.

  • Is it true that they're MAKING you check in at the BCV desk in the villas building?

  • What is it you need to do with your luggage if your room isn't ready? Is bell services allowed to take it when you pull up in front of the building?

  • Dining plan and other concierge services - can they be done at the BCV check in desk? Or were you forced to stand in a 2nd line at the BC Lobby for these services?

  • Has there been any changes over the last month compared to what's already been posted here?

We just returned from a late Oct./early Nov. trip and nothing appears to have changed. We used Magical Express and our room was ready when we arrived, so luggage wasn't an issue; however, if you have luggage with you, I'm sure Bell Services will be glad to hold it for you till your room is ready.

We saw a sign, as we were walking in, that directed us to the BCV lobby, so that's where we went. A pleasant young lady took my information and asked us to have a seat in the Drawing Room while she checked us in. The TV was on, quietly, (in the Drawing Room) and cold water and a bowl of apples were available while we waited. Within just a few minutes, the young lady was back, sat down with me in the Drawing Room to go over our reservation, and we were quickly on our way.

One thing I discovered, later. It occurred to me that I had intended to pay cash for our dining plan. When I went back to the lobby to inquire about that (because I still had the cash "in my pocket'), I was told they're not set up to accept cash and was directed to the consierge desk in the front lobby. I was kind of surprised that the young lady didn't explain that while she was going over our reservation with me, but no biggie. I just went to the consierge desk and it was taken care of very quickly.

Other than that, my experience with the BCV check-in desk was very positive and I hope they plan to continue it. I stopped there several times, throughout the week, when I had a question, and they always greeted us as we passed through.

In fact, our experiences at the BCV have always been good, but this one was exceptional. For some reason, everyone seemed even friendlier than usual -- noticeably so. It really did feel like "home," and I cannot wait to return.

My in-laws will be there in about 20 days and I didnt realize that. Good to know. I would agree with the overcrowded BC lobby.
