DVC at Grand Floridian - update 12/9/11

I have a hard time justifying paying over $130 per point no matter where the resort is located.

There's some pretty firm evidence that the next DVC resort will be at the Grand Floridian. Check out the plans at this site and also take a look at This more extensive version

The plans look quite similar to what I deal with/print off.

Certainly appears as though they are looking to add another building to the GF area. Seems a bit close to the Wedding Pavilion, but I'm not quite sure where else there would be room.

I'm having a hard time justifying more DVC points anywhere because...Someday, hopefully, we'll be Central Florida residents. We have points now and the Poly would be the only other resort I'd consider purchasing. I still want to have the points even when we live in Central Florida, but having a stockpile would be overkill.

Sorry to sway away from the thread topic. :beach:

You could always sell the contracts you no longer want once you move to FL!

I would hold out for the Poly too

I'm on the fence about Poly and GF. I love both. When my bro and I were kids, we would camp at Ft Wilderness and our favorite thing to do was visit Poly and GF. I would love to own points at both  It's just a dream but its a good dream...

Wherever the new DVC properties are going to spring up over the next few years, I just hope they make them better instead of worse. Personally, even though I love BLT, there is no way I would ever stay in a studio there. I don't know what they were thinking when they decided on the layout and square footage but IMO it's the worst out of all the DVC resorts. I would stay in a studio anywhere else before I would go back to one at BLT.

Agreed. I love Kidani because they're the largest room among the DVC resorts. You feel like you're swimming in the amount of space you have, and the rooms are the best themed, I think. The BLT rooms are ugly. While I'd love to stay there in concept, the reality is less than ideal.

Kidani is a little far out there, but I just stayed at the Boardwalk last week, and while I loved being able to walk to Epcot and HS, the single dedicated bus line at Kidani makes getting everywhere a breeze. Especially because it doesn't stop at five other resorts. I'd take the bus from Kidani to MK, AK or DD any day of the week before I'd take the bus to any of those places from Boardwalk again.

Not doubt it is a DVC spot. I think it's a great idea and it will be a matter of time before you see it at either the Poly and/or Wilderness Lodge. However, I can only imagine the points it will cost stay at any of those locations.

The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge has been open since 2000.

My family is very excited about the possibility of a DVC resort at the Grand Floridian. This is our favorite resort and we will almost certainly buy in. We were already considering buying points at the Beach Club. I think a split stay between BCV and GFV would be our perfect Walt Disney World vacation!

Sooo, how much per point are you all willing to spend on DVC GF?

Currently without any incentives the price at BLT is $140 per point. By the time they have the GF built I would bet pricing will be around $170 pp. Is that OK? Can you imagine spending $17000 for 100 points? Especially since resales at a place like SSR are going to be in the 50's? That's a $120 point spread. Just saying.

I agree that the pricing will be high, but there may be some promotion or incentive at the beginning. Once that's over though, yes, the price will go through the roof and stay there, like it has at BLT.

Don't forget though, with the recent changes, there are now drawbacks to buying resale instead of through Disney.

I think $170 per point sounds reasonable. The resale market is a totally different thing now, with the new rules.
