Wondering if someone could shed some light on DVC rental for me? I am planning my first ever trip to WDW with dh, ds (11) & dd (5). We originally planned a trip for 7 days (will be staying off site for that time) but then I had some wonderful pixie dust sprinkled on me by a great DVC owner and have arranged to rent her points for 2 nights at the beginning of our trip at Animal Kingdom. :cheer2:

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me a bit about the rooms at AK, we have a savannah view room and I have seen on other threads posted photos of rooms at Animal Kingdom but I'm not sure if the DVC rooms differ in any way? If anyone has any photos they would be willing to share that would be fabulous!

Also wondering about mousekeeping, I've heard all kinds of wonderful things (i.e. the mickey/animal shaped towels etc) and wondering if this happens in DVC rooms as well?

Or if there is somewhere that I could find info specifically on DVC rooms that would be super as well!

Thanks in advance for any help you could offer! popcorn::

You can get a lot of good information at www.disneyvacationclub.com (see virtual tours of the rooms, etc.)

Here is a link to some pictures from my last AKV trip report in a 1 BR during summer 2007:

If I remember correctly they do make some of the towel animals just like in the hotel rooms. You don't get daily housekeeping with DVC units. On day 4 of your stay they do a Trash & Towel service and on day 8 they would do a full cleaning. If you stay less than 8 days you just get the trash taken out and new towels. All the units above a studio have a washer/dryer in the unit so you could wash things more often if needed.

Thank you so much for the info and for sharing your photos, they look amazing! I will check out the website now....thanks again! :thumbsup2

Here's some pictures from our one bedroom in July. We LOVED it! We are thrilled with AKV as our home resort!!!

You will LOVE your room at AKL and love the savannah view. It was so nice to come "home" and instantly feel at peace and totally relaxed and eating breakfast alongside my animal friends was a highlight. You will also find the rooms much larger than a standard hotel room. The four of us did not feel like we were crowded.

We went grocery shopping and ate breakfast and lunch in our room. The kitchenette in the studio was a perfect size and the refrigerator was roomy enough for a gallon of milk and juice. I do suggest that if you do buy food, you may want to pack sturdier paper plates and bowls. The paper plates, bowls and silverware did not last our 7 days there and could not hold soup. We ended up purchasing cheap bowls and silverware from the local Publix.

Also, look for the DVC member only laundry rooms. I returned from my trip without a piece of dirty laundry thanks to the free machines. Just purchase or pack your own detergant and you will be ready to go!

Also, my kids loved finding all the hidden Mickey's!

Thank you for the tips and comments, it is greatly appreciated! I can't wait....I think I may be the most excited out of our family for our trip!

The photos show a 1BR. Is that what you have booked?

No, we don't have a 1 bdr but it certainly gave me an idea of they types of rooms they offer. We are in a studio I believe (whatever the smallest is called).

Here are a couple of threads containing some AKV studio photos. Post #10 in this thread has both VWL and AKV studio photos (the first four photos in that reply post are from VWL). There are some larger photos in this thread.

I just found a great set of photos of an AKV Studio in post #51 in this thread. These photos are pretty comprehensive -- the only thing not included is the balcony (which has one small table and two chairs). The balcony photos posted in this thread are from a 1BR so they are twice as long as a studio balcony. Your balcony will be just as deep but half as long.
