Question about DVC AP's and renewals.

Do renewals work like regular AP's...........they don't take effect until you "swipe them through the turnstile"?

For example, if we buy DVC AP's (vouchers) in July of this year, (before the price increase) but don't use them first until October 10, 2011, then the 1 yr pass does not begin until October 10, 2011 and go through October 9, 2012.

Then if we renew them next year, does that DVC renewal AP not begin until we "swipe through the turnstile"?

Am I making sense....????

DVC APs work the same as regular APs. For a new AP, they begin the date the voucher or will call number is exchanged for the actual AP. For renewals, they are back dated to the expiration date of the original AP.

It depends, they did have a 15 months for the price of 12 promo some time ago (they are no longer offering that promo), but it was not exclusive to DVC. Basically, in the past, if they offered it for a regular AP, it will applied to a DVC AP. But of course, that could change at any time.

Actually, a new AP is not "swipe through the turnstile". It's when you activate it, either by buying it at WDW or activating your voucher. Some people who arrive late in the day like to get it taken care of that evening. Your AP will be effective that date even if you don't go through a turnstile.

Ok...now you've got me thinking. I've never purchased a DVC AP online (only in person). I was planning to buy online but does that mean it's active at the time I place my credit card info ? If this is so, I should just wait until I get to the resort and purchase ? I might be confused on this ?
Thanks

If you buy the AP on line you will get a voucher not the actual pass. When you get to disney go to guest services and they will activate it then.

I'm a cheapskate, so I usually just get a will call number, print it out, and avoid the $5 shipping fee for the voucher. I bring the printout and the credit card I used to Guest Relations, and am good to go.

and don't forget your blue DVC member card or you will be paying full price
