My husband qualifies for the military promotion, $99 for 4 day ticket. Can we purchase that ticket and then apply it toward a DVC annual pass? Is there any savings in doing this? We are going on 2 trips this summer, and I am trying to figure out our best deal for ticket $$!

Thanks!

Based on your info, it would be far more cost effective to purchase the military discounted tickets on two separate occasions than an AP. One AP for a DVC owner is about the same cost as four militar tickets alone. Now, if you figure in the TiW that you can get as an AP holder, then depending on what dining plan (if any) you were going to purchase, perhaps the cost of an AP might work for you.

We also are elgible for those tickets. If you buy the ticket at a base near you or at Shades of Green....and then use it one day and then go to the guest services window of one of the parks like MK, EC, HS or AK you can upgrade. They will give you the value of the ticket you purchased whether it be 99 for 4 days, 124 for adding hopping or 149 for also adding water parks and more. However you don't pay any tax on base or at SOG but they will give you credit of that tax along with what you paid to go towards the AP. So if you buy the 149 buck ticket without tax it is valued at 158.69 with tax at the gate. That entire amt. is applied toward the DVC AP. However the day you first use that military ticket is the day your AP starts. So if you went to MK on June 1st and then didn't go back until Sept. 15th and you decided to upgrade.....the start date of your AP is June 1st.

Remember you are ONLY allowed to buy up to 6 military tickets TOTAL. You can't buy 6 in the first trip and another 6 on the 2nd trip. What we are doing is my dd19 and myself are buying AP's for our July trip. My dh, ds16 and ds11 are going to use 2 of the military tickets per person. They are adding park hopping to both tickets and water parks to one. That way next year when we go....if there are no special military tickets then we would not have to buy 5 AP's at one time. Our ds16 might not go next summer anyway so I see no reason to buy him an AP plus their AP's would have to be PAP's anyway. They always do the water parks on our summer trips. My dd and I are done with water parks. LOL
