DVC AP Ticket Question

For those with great knowledge:worship:

My MIL is a DVC member and is looking at buying my SIL a DVC AP. SIL lives with MIL (same address, obviously immediate family member) so I know MIL is ok to purchase SIL a ticket.

My question is though, when SIL goes to validate the voucher is she going to need MIL's DVC card? Also SIL does not have a photo ID besides a passport, what kind of identification is appropriate for her to bring to pick up the AP? I read the sticky (and know what you need for a FL Res) but there is nothing about what is needed for proof of DVC eligibility.

Thanks for the help. :cool1:

We have DVC annual passes, and have had to show our DVC membership card at guest services everytime we have picked up the AP's. They even want to see the DVC card when picking up my minor child's AP - his renewal date is different from the rest of the families.

I am a member and anytime I have bought or activated an AP, they need my member card to key in the member # into their computer. So she could try bringing a copy of the member card that has the #.

Thanks for the info! :-) Sounds like I need to make sure she brings at least a copy of the DVC card. Does anyone know about proofing address? SIL is not a minor, but does reside in the household. Like I said, she only has a Passport for a photo id.

A passport is a government-issued form of photo identification so that should be accepted. If for some reason SIL's passport does NOT have the same address as MIL (she recently moved back home or something), then she may need to prove that she belongs to the same household as the DVC member in order to get the DVC discounted AP. Could she get a state-issued non-driver's photo ID?

I thought that too, but there aren't addresses on Passports. :confused3 . I guess she could get a state-id, but it's kind of a waste of money to get it just for an AP.

Any other ideas?

Oops! I forgot passports don't have an address - ours are in the safe deposit box at the bank and I haven't looked at them in while. Fees vary by state but here a non-drivers ID only costs $20 (less if on SSI or SSD) so it's not a major expense - and I'd rather risk carrying that around as my primary form of ID than a passport. She would have needed to provide some form of identification to get her passport - what was used at that time?

Honestly, if it were me or my relative, I'd suggest getting the state-ID and putting the passport away for safe keeping rather than using that as her only form of photo identification - for a Disney pass or any other ID need. But that's just my opinion, others may disagree.

Bad news.

When any AP is activated we put the name, birth date, address and telephone number into the Automated Ticketing System computer. For any person 18 or older we need a photo ID.

Even if we are activating another household member's AP, we must see the Membership Card and, if we are not activating a Member's AP at that time, we still will want to see a photo ID where the name on the ID matches the name on the Membership Card.

And especially if the last name on the ID does not match that on the card. we might retain it at the ticket office and send it to Member Services.

So is SIL out of luck??? She has the same last name as MIL and resides in that house. Will it work with a Passport and Bank Statement/Credit Card Statement?I understand needing the DVC card but what would work with ID.

I guess another question, if MIL is there to pick up/activate DVC APs and shows her DVC card and ID will that change the circumstances for SIL? She would still need to show an ID correct? Will her passport and bank statement work then?

Sorry this is really confusing. Like I said, I get the whole FL Res ID stuff, just not DVC.

I was just re-reading the internal ticketing announcement. The following is an exact quote from this announcement:

"Guests may purchase tickets for themselves and their immediate family members. All adults must present a valid driver's license or state identification card showing they reside in the same household."

And if MIL is there with her ID, a DL or State ID must also be presented for anyone 18 and older.
