DVC AP Renewal Policy?

Does anyone know how much the AP went up? My pass doesn't have the amount. Just wondering what I miss out on --------

I think my A/P's expire in later Oct...I am confused...do I need to do something now? We probably won't go again until March the earliest. Subscribing for more info. Thanks all!

Our passes expire 7/1/10....We are going back 7/6/10....Would love the extension instead of renewing...I am jumping in this thread for updated information ;)

You could not extend your current AP instead of renewing. Only AP's with a renewal date of 8/2/09 are eligible for the 15 months. Your next AP would be eligible if the offer is still effective. It would expire 10/01/11.

Ok so our AP expire Dec 30th 09 do we need to buy renewals right now or should/could we wait till then? What is the price for them now? So our passes would expire March 30th 2011?

Just incase anyone was wondering about how the raise in ticket prices has effected DVC Annual Pass pricing here is the info for adult pricing:

New DVC Annual Pass was $392.99, and now it's $414.29

Renewal DVC Annual Pass was $345.06, and now it's $366.36.

This is a $21.30 price increase. The price increase isn't that bad for renewals since you now get an extra 3 months on renewed annual passes.

In this economy I think any price increase is rediculous! I will be renewing, but it really bites that Disney couldn't go one year without raising prices. Thank goodness we get the DVC discount!

I agree that even at the renewal price, it is a pretty big increase. For the two of us, that's nearly an extra $50. Yeah, it's nice to have an extra three months but I am sure Disney can decide to stop giving that extension at any time.
Theoretically, the policy change could only be offered for just one month for all we know!

Glad I renewed before the price increase. My pass expires in October and I renewed online on Saturday to save the $21. My pass always expires mid-trip, then the next trip is December, then January, so we always renew because we never have much of a lapse between trips. You definitely have to crunch the numbers now to decide if renewing or buying new best fits your routine.

Just for clarification, did you mean to say, "...a renewal date on or after 8/2/09..."?

Yes, on or after. But this statement isn't precisely correct. It's based on when you do the exchange, not when the existing AP expired.

My pass expired 7/15/09. I arrived at WDW on 8/2/09, and had purchased my renewal online a few weeks ago. Because I exchanged the will-call certificate on (or after) 8/2/09, I got the 15 months.

I was lucky enough to get the best of both worlds. I renewed at the old rates, and got the 15 months.

Yes, you were very lucky!

Just wanted to see if you had any trouble renewing for the 15 months. I just read on another site that the 15 month extension is only good for passes expiring Sept 1, 2009 and later.

Ours expire during this August's trip and since they were offering the extension, we were going to do it, but if they will not honor it, we will not renew since it only makes sense for us if we get the extra 3 months.

Thanks

My annual pass expires in late September. We are going to WDW in a few weeks should I renew my annual pass while I am down there or wait till I get home and will I get the 15 months as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK,

I called both the AP phone line and MS today. Neither had information on the extension and both had to place me on hold to check with others. Disney doesn't seem to be doing too good a job keeping their cast members apprised of the new promotion.:rolleyes1

Once they came back on the line, both said the extension is for passes renewed after Aug 2 and it must be done at Guest services. You could purchase the renewal online and do will call, but GS are the only ones who can add the 3 month extension on to your pass. MS confirmed that DVC passes qualify for the 3 month extension.

I specifically asked about the expiration date issue I read about being Sept. 1 and neither CM saw anything in writing about that being the case. So it looks as if we will be able to extend our August AP's for the 15 month extension while we are down there. Hope there is not any issue though when we go to do it.

I'm a lit bit disappointed that no one seems really to know the details. I realize that the promo just started but to our family it is a big deal that saves us a bit of money by allowing us an extra trip within the 15 months, so it makes it worthwhile. Notice I said it saves us a bit of money, Disney has trained us well enough to justify these savings by coming to the World a little more often. At least my family is doing our part to help the economy recover.;);)

Really -- it has to be done at Guest Services? That's disappointing.

But on the good side, we'll be there within 30 days of our renewal, so it won't be a problem for us.

But you'd think you'd be able to do it through the AP site, at a minimum!

That's really no change. You can't get the actual pass by phone or online, you have to go to guest services. The voucher you get online does not have a renewal date on it.

That's what I was told. I don't have the greatest confidence in what the two different people told me, though. Neither had ever heard of the 15 month extension prior to my phone call, which made me a bit worried to begin with.

I think you actually have to renew your pass within the 30 days prior or the 30 days after your actual expiration, so in the case of those not being down in Disney World they would have to renew online during that period in order for them to get the extension. Those members would take their confirmation numbers to Will Call and the new passes would be issued by Guest Services with the 15 month extension. That is how it was explained to me, anyway.

Hmm. So, theoretically, someone may have their renewal date right now, call up MS and do the renewal, and then not go to GS and activate the pass until 14.9 months from now, and they'll have to hope that the 15-month extension is still operative in their systems?

Also -- does one need to call MS and do the will-call thing to get the DVC discount on an AP renewal? Or can Guest Services handle that?

Wow. It surprises me how backwards Disney can be some times.

Even at messed up ol' Six Flags, you only go to the park to get your pass once. Thereafter, it's strictly a mail-in affair if you want it to be (you always have the option of going to the park, of course).

But for WDW, you have to be physically present to get a renewed AP. Amazing!

You should see out at Disneyland. I bought an AP at the ticket window, they don't give you the actual pass. You take the ticket they give you and then right inside the entrance is a place where you get in line to get your picture taken! The pass is on a plastic card with your picture. No finger scan, they scan the pass like a grocery store and your picture comes up on their screen and they let you pass.

Not sure if you have to get a picture each year, I didn't renew.
