I am planning to purchase an AP with the DVC discount. I am wondering if I can purchase this at my resort Guest Services when I arrive or do I have to go somewhere else to purchase this?

Thank you.

I believe you can now purchase them in the hotel, but if not you can get them at th gate

:) We got them at the gate at AK. You can get them at any park guest relations counter. We then purchased the TIW card for $75 since we had our APs. It is really going to help us this year. We purchased them in Dec during our 9 night trip, will use them this May for 8 nights and another 7 nights in October. Out TIW card will expire 12/31/11 so it is good too.

Has anyone reported being able to renew AP's at the hotel?

No, only buying new.

Copied this from a post made on 3/29/2011 by Cheshire Figment, A WDW Ticketing/Guest Services CM:

1. Your best bet for any modification/upgrade of any park ticket is to go to any Park Ticket Window or Guest Relations Office. This includes water parks, TTC and DTD. They are dealing directly with the Automated Ticketing System, which is also tied to the turnstiles. The old Resort system (DPMS) and the current system (LILO) both link to ATS; they are not part of ATS.

2. Even if they can put your tickets on the KTTW, if you try anything but a full-price ticket including tax they will have to do price-bridging. So tickets purchased at SoG or MWR/ITT cannot be put on the KTTW.

FWIW, I would never do any kind of an upgrade at the resort. I want the CM processing my transaction to be experienced and knowledgeable about ticketing. There are way too many ins and outs for me to believe the CMs who staff the Concierge Desk are as good at ticket transactions as are those who staff GR or the ticket booths. And now we know that even with the recent upgrades, the resort CMs do not have access to ATS, the ticketing software.

I'm not sure about other states, but in Florida, at our Sam's club, you can purchase $100 Disney gift cards, for $98-$99, which only saves $1 and some change for each--but it also includes a $10 gift card that can be used at the Disney Store. So--I believe--then you could use the Disney gift card for AP and keep the Disney Store GC for yourself. It's like a 10% savings then.
