I wish they would extend the perk to pay for your AP monthly like they do FL Residents. Anyone agree?

Put the money away monthly, then you'll be ready to buy it each year. We put money into savings each month for our APs and MFs.

There's a Disney vacation savings site now that allows you to contribute monthly on a recurring basis or one time contribution (or several). I had the link but can't find it. Money is held in a banks FDIC insured account.

This is really intriguing! My husband and I complain that we don't have enough separate checking accounts to keep our finances straight. Anyone use this disney vacation account? Do you like it? Why or why not?

I opened a Disney Vacation Account. It asked me when my next trip was, how much I wanted to save, and how often I wanted to make a deposit. Then it figured how much each deposit would need to be to reach that goal. They just transfer it from my checking account every 2 weeks.

There is no interest on the account and you could just as easily put the money in any other account you have and just plan to use it for vacation, but I know myself. If the money is easy to get to , I'll pull it out and spend it on something! The only way I can save money is to hide it from myself! I do have another account that gets $50/payday put in it for airline tickets.

i was reading it but it wasnt clear on retrieval of funds. ultimately i would convert to disney gc before trip. Hope someone has some experience to share.

I went to the site and did some investigating....doesn't look like it's a good plan for us. Says it can't be used to buy DVC, not sure if it could be used to pay for DVC related expenses but I'm inclined to think not. It said it could pay for dining plan, only if you were adding it to an applicable vacation.

It deals with whether you could use it to pay for non-dining plan dining expenses, and it says your option is to get a gift card for up to $500.

At another point, it says that each vacation account is allowed to only get ONE $500 gift card.

That's when I decided it would be of little use. You can use it for airfare but the airfare has to be through Disney.

Someone on easywdw spent a lot of time looking into this recently because he wanted to use it to pay his dues and that was supposed to be possible, but in the end it wasn't. Then, he had to request a refund. We talked a lot about it and determined it seemed to be most suited to someone buying a Disney package and saving to pay it off.

That is most likely exactly what this account was designed to do, save for a cash Disney vacation package.

Concerning the $500 GC, I believe they're referring to the bonus $. So for every $1000 you invest into this account they give you a $20 bonus, up to a $500 GC.

AP perks... meh, other perks are lookin' good!! I'm grateful and excited to get some of them next trip!!
