I feel like someone must have asked this but I did a search and didn't see anything - we are letting our daughter take a trip to WDW with some friends after her graduation next summer using our DVC points. I was thinking of buying a gold AP for her to use on the trip. She is our immediate family in the same household but will she be able to activate it if we are not there since she's not the DVC member?

Unless she is 18 or older, she won't be able to check in. She will need to show a DVC blue card, and a copy of your DL, her DL.

Cool, thanks - she will be 18 by then, I was thinking of sending my blue member card with her but I didn't know if they'd accept it since it would be my name and not hers.

Call MS and explain. It's been reported that they can make some advance arrangements so that your daughter can pick up the pass without you being present.

This is accurate. They gave me a magic file number and my daughter needed the certificate number, they call it NEET number, my blue membership card printed from the DVC page or a color photocopy of my card, and her drivers license with my address. She picked it up this past Saturday with no issues. She did say they asked for the magic file number.

Our son picked up his DVC AP just a few weeks ago. All he needed was the cert & file numbers, his license, & a copy of my DVC card & license (I texted everything, including pics of my info to him because, of course, my printer ran out of ink that morning ). He had no problems getting his pass.

My 18+ year old son was able to activate his dvc annual pass last summer without me being there. He Had a picture of my dvc member card and my drivers license on his phone which he showed to the cast member. He had no issues!

Yes, exactly this. I purchased DVC APs for my college aged son twice. Just call MS and they’ll make arrangements. I believe he needed to show his drivers license and a copy of my DVC card. Very easy.

Our 18+ yr old DD's have done this many times. They bring my blue DVC card, a copy of my license, and their own ID. No problems at all.

Thanks for the info everyone! I was kind of hoping I might have to tag along to activate the pass :) but good to know she shouldn't have any issues.

She can also receive DVC discounts by showing card and a copy of your dl and her dl.

Only the DVC member is entitled to the DVC discounts. She can get the annual pass holder discounts.
My 18 yr old with copy of my license, member card and her dl, worked several times last January.

Should not have worked. It has never worked for any of my adult children. I appreciate those CM who enforce the rules. Member perks are for the members.

Our teenage DD didn't have any problems with the file # and my card with her.

My son and daughter were able to get DVC AP pricing last year when travelling without me. She had her passport and he had his DL along with my blue DVC member card and a photocopy of my DL.
