I don't know if you'll have the answer, but I'd thought I'd ask here first.

Saturday is my day to reserve FP for our Oct trip. We arrive on Oct 24th, our passes end on Oct 26th.
I have extra AP's purchased and listed in MDE, but they are not activated and would prefer to save those and renew our current passes for another year.

Do I need to contact DVC to renew before the 30 days or will the purchased AP's be enough to make all our FP picks for 8 days? Make sense?

I've read a report that if you have an AP that expires during your stay the system will allow you to book FP for all your stay. By default the system thinks you're going to renew.
I have an AP voucher linked to my account but it's not active yet and I was able to book all FP at 60+ days.
So you should be more than good to go.

Thank you for the info! I was hoping it would work and I'd be able to book all our FP's.
