DVC AP Discount and Ticket From MYW Dining Plan?

First off, I finally got my official membership number yesterday for my first purchase of a DVC Property (BWV via resale) - I am now officially a member!

However, in August Disney is running that special where you get dining for free. Given that, we are staying at Pop Century for 11 days. I was told you have to buy at least a park ticket for one day, and the entire time you are there the dining plan is free. Seemed like another trip would the best time to use my DVC membership!

I was going to order my vouchers for AP's now and activate them when we arrive in August, but there is another twist. A 407-WDW-DINE operator told me I could take my one day ticket and apply it to my DVC AP purchase. So I see something like this:

1. Arrive at resort
2. Get 1 day tickets
3. Go to one of the theme park member services
4. show them my dvc member id and ticket
5. get AP for DVC price and upgrade the 1 day ticket to AP to reduce cost by cost of 1 day ticket

Does this sound correct? Is there a place to check on this that anyone recommends? Thanks in advance!

That is correct, after you check-in and get your one day ticket, go to guest services at a theme park or Downtown Disney and trade them in for APs.

That package is wonderful! :thumbsup2 I am getting it beginning Sept. 30, so I saved my pts for another trip, too! POR is $137 on the package, and I am also using the ticket for my AP! :goodvibes

I thought you had to order the DVC discounted APs in advance through MS or the website?

I must have got that wrong and if so that is great news as I have the same situation with a 1 day pass to get the DDP free in August.

So I book and pay for my APs with my DVC discount at WDW and they will deduct the price of my one day pass from the already discounted total?

That is what I hear. I will look further into this and get back to you (i.e., post back to this thread) within the next day or two.

You do not have to pre-purchase APs to get the DVC discount. Show them your membership card and a photo ID when you buy them at guest services. If you pre-purchase you only get a voucher or will-call window pick-up and still you'd need your membership card and ID for the AP to be activated at guest services. This prevents members from buying discounted vouchers for people who would otherwise not be eligible for the discount.

I checked out the whole scenario with Disney reservations (upgrading the ticket, etc.). They confirmed that all of this would be okay.

Now, I just need to see how long it will take to actually receive my membership card!

Be sure to have your blue membership card with you. You'll need to provide that along with a driver's license (or other photo id).

If you don't receive your card before you leave for your trip you can stop by the sales office at SSR and get a temporary card, as long as you are in the DVC computer system.

Fantastic news! Thank you very much for that :thumbsup2

If this is true, it's great.

We also have DVC discounted APs that will expire in November while we're there on our trip. I was trying to decide if we should renew, as we won't be able to take as many trips down during the next use year. However, we have 1 day MYW passes from our trip in April (for dining) and will have another set from our September trip (free dining). Can I take those 1 day tickets (1 for each adult and 1 for each child) and use them against the price of my DVC discounted AP renewal? I wasn't sure we could use both the discount and the already purchased ticket price on the same thing.

Can someone else confirm this? If so, I'll have a much smaller outlay in November and it will definitely be worth renewing.

Thanks.
