I have Platinum AP that expires in June, but because we are booked over July 4-10, I renewed it 55 days out to get park reservations for July. This Sorcerer pass says it expires in April 2023, even though it says “ renewal.” Is this correct?

Both mine and DH’s are like this.

The renewal voucher is only good for one year now from date of purchase. But. As mentioned, as soon as you activate it will be the actual date to match.

ut oh....I'm a bit confused. I was able to renew my Gold Pass and have not yet activated it yet. I understood I had 10 years to do that. Is that not true or am I misreading what you are saying?

Since it's a renewal it will revert back to when the pass expired. So if your pass expired in Feb. and you activate it in June, it will still have a Feb expire date. If you don't get it renewed before the following Feb (if it expired in Feb 22 and you don't go until March 23) you will just get a credit for that amount.

It depends on when you bought the renewal voucher. If it was before the change last August, then it has an expiration date for longer, but it won't act like a renewal if you don't activate during your renewal.

For example, we bought my DD a renewal voucher last summer before this...it is good for several years. But, her pass expired in October (she has not yet gotten back.). When she goes this summer, that pass will date back to October and expire October 2022.

If she doesn't get back like planned, and never activates the voucher, then it would only be good for a new AP...paying the difference of course...but since they are not selling, she could end up out of luck.

Renewals are cheaper because they simply keep your current AP going. Starting last August...before the November 2021 suspension...any and all vouchers were given a one year expiration so people could no longer buy and hold for years.

Not sure when you current pass expired, but if you do not get their within a year of the expired pass, you may have trouble using that voucher toward an AP until they are back on sale and it will require you to pay the differnce.

Thanks.....I may have been overthinking. I do not believe what I have is a renewal voucher. I took another look and in MDE we have a DVC Member Gold Pass Exchange which expires Dec 31, 2099. I think we're ok.

Yup. When you redeem it, It will become a Sorcerer pass or whatever is in place at the time.

I can confirm this as well, I had a DVC Gold Annual Pass voucher, and when I activated it on April 20th it was turned into a Sorcerer Pass with free PhotoPass.

Did you have to pay anything to convert to Sorcerer?

Our AP expires in Aug but we are not planning on going back until summer 2023. If we renew our AP can we wait to activate it? Or does the renewal just roll forward immediately? Thanks!

The clock starts ticking from your end date, so Aug 22 to Aug 23.

If you pay the renewal rate and don't actually activate the renewal within 30 days after your pass has expired, they will charge you the difference between the renewal rate you paid and the current price of a non-renewal AP when you do go to activate the renewal.

Just got back. We hadn't been in exactly two years. We had renewed twice in those absent two years. When we arrived, Guest services activated our first renewed Annual Pass to start on the date that we just arrived. They then set our second renewed Annual Pass to start in 2023 when our newly activated current Annual Passes expire. Very very kind of them. So, we now have two years of Annual Passes.

So yes, they activated our passes when we arrived. Irregardless of the date that our last pass expired.

Not exactly....you just have to purchase the renewal during that period. You can activate it after that....I have done that in the past. We went two months later and activated the voucher without issue...of course, the date was back dated, but no problem keeping the AP.

I don't understand. Maybe I'm reading it wrong.

So in May 2020 you bought a renewal pass but never activated it. In May 2021 you bought another renewal pass and never activated it. May of 2022, you went to disney with two renewal passes and you are active until May of 2024?

You are exactly right. I had hoped I worded my message properly.
