I am arriving 12/12/08 and planned to renew our APs at that time so we can get 3 trips on them. I received a renewal notice in the mail saying that my anniversary date is 12/7/08. My trip next year ends 12/11/09 so if I renew by mail my expiration will be 12/6 or 12/7/09, won't it? I know in the "old days" the date did not start until you activated your voucher you received but hasn't that changed in the past years?
TIA! :)

Yes, your renewal will expire on 12/7/09. Renewals keep the same anniversary date. In the past you did get a voucher if you renewed by mail, but that changed several years ago.

Thank you! I was hoping to save on the renewal price but it looks like I need to pay full AP price (but still love that DVC discount on it!). ;)

You still get a voucher if you renew by mail. But the anniversary date doesn't change.

It sounds as if it will be best for you to just wait and purchase new APs on the 12th. You'll lose the small difference between renewal and new AP prices but will gain 5 days admission.

Is there no way you can move your '09 vacation forward a few days?

That is what I was thinking. What a problem to have, LOL! Gee, how can I squeeze in 3 trips on 1 AP?

I'm checking into that- we are taking friends that involve a 10 year old and a teacher's aide so going the following week may be a big no-no as far as linking into the holiday vacation time- they are pressing it as it is but I am going to have them check on the dates just in case! :)

We have had AP since 2005 and they actually expire July 23rd. (I just looked it up...on another board I said August..whoops! ) But every time I have called to renew them, the cast member always asks when our next trip down is....usually it is sometime in August. They have always advised me to wait until we arrive to renew (at the discounted renewal rate) then because the voucher may not reach us before we leave. In 2006, we waited and the prices increased on August 1st, I wrote an e-mail to several people and received a personal phone call from a VP and she put notes in the system so that when we went to DDT to renew them we received the old rate. We are always told that you have 30 days past the "expiration date" to renew your passes at a renewal discount. This year our trip started 8/16, to avoid the rate increase, I renewed on the phone on July 30th and had the passes for will call at any park guest relations center. We picked them up at DDT with no problems.

If you waited to renew until you arrive on Dec 12th, you will get the 3 trips out of the passes. I also find it interesting that you received a notification to renew because we never have.

Tinkerbellecrafter- This is the first time I've ever received something to remind me. It is from Passholder and tells me I will save $145.00 by renewing by that date; I was a little confused at first but realized that they combined the DVC discount with the renewal discount off the regular price. I guess I will just hand them my just-a-few-days expired ticket, DVC card and driver's license and ask to renew it and see what price I am charged. Looking for a bit of pixie dust to happen but happy to get any discount at all. $392.99 is a good price for 3 trips so no complaining here, just a little hope! :goodvibes

Cool...Here is hoping!! Our trips cross over by one night...we check out on the 13th :-(

But if you ask to renew it, your anniversary date will be 12/7.

As for renewal notices, I think we receive one about every 4 years. We've also received only one renewal notice for DDE since 2005.

Good point! I'd better speak to the person before I say renewal to be sure.:thumbsup2

TT,

A few years ago when we were still living up North, we decided to do the squeeze...once we joined DVC of course! Anyway, after we bought the passes on the first trip....wow the next two were 'free'. The next two were on points, super cheap car rental from Nat'l (the good 'ole days), and one of the two we were even able to get r/t air on Southwest for $75. It was a few years ago, but I think with the five of us, we had one of our two 'free' trips only cost us about $600 (air/car/and food - car and grocery store helped alot there!). That year I think we got nearly 25 days on our pass!!

Good Luck with the squeeze - I know we planned our final trip around the expiration date.

We always renew online through the passholder website and it's never a problem. We just print the willcall certificate and take it to guest relations with required cards. Just one less step to do at guest relations. Your anniversary date stays the same. We also don't get renewal noticed too often, but I always know when my AP expires because everytime I log into the AP website it always tells me. Generally we manage 5 trips per AP (about 8 weeks of use)
