Yes, you may. Bring the GAD voucher, your blue DVC membership card and photo ID to any Guest Relations booth to complete the upgrade. You will pay the price of a DVC Annual Pass (or DVC PAP if you want that one) less $79 (value of the GAD ticket).

I fixed the link - sorry. The most important thing is that you need to USE the ticket before upgrading it.

However....these two statements contradict each other. I 'thought' that we could get our DVC APs, with the GAD cert in hand..that we didn't have to enter the park first. IF we are buyng that AP, with the DVC 'discount', then we are going to then have to go back to Guest services, and get a refund?? Seems like a lot more work.
My understanding was that we could do what Carol said...take our DVC card, GAD cert and then pay the discounted (yeah, I know..not a discount) price as well as get the $79 taken off at the same time.

Which is correct??

Thanks. I am a liitle confused. Do I have to use the voucher for a free day and go in the park and upgrade to the DVC annual pass? Can I just upgrade with the voucher at the Guest relations outside the park?

I'm just going by what a friend who did it told me AND what Cheshire Figment says in his ticket thread, which I linked to:

If you want to upgrade the Free ticket it may only be done after you have entered a Park so it has been used on the day of issue. The upgraded pass may only be used by the person to whom the original pass was issued. If you do not use the ticket on the date of issue it is no longer valid and cannot be used for entry and cannot be upgraded.

I haven't done this myself, but I have every reason to believe that Cheshire Figment's explanation is correct.

I used the GAD voucher to upgrade to a DVC AP at Epcot's International Gateway last month. I did not have to enter the park first. It brought the cost of the AP down to $330.15.

I was told the exact same thing by a ticketing CM just the other day. I was told NOT to enter the park, but go directly to guestservices with the GAD cert. and DVC membership card to get the AP.

Apparently you can do either - there are a couple of threads on the first page of the Theme Parks board about this now - seems it is one of those things that is dependent upon which CM you encounter.

After you get the DVC discounted price and the $79 off, I guess they charge sales tax?

Is that how they come up with $330.15? DVC AP 389- 79GAD=310

Yes, they charge sales tax of 6.5%.

same proceedure for a renewal of DVC annual pass, correct? The $79.00 credit would apply to the renewal price, right?

is this the procedure for disneyland or disneyworld??? also will they accept the temporary cards? mine doesn't expire until after our trip.

what would the procedure be for Disneyland?

The GAD voucher was worth $84.14 - they include the tax in the value of the voucher.

I've read that with the GAD ticket, there are a few rules, like you must use the ticket on the day you turn in your voucher. I think that you may upgrade the GAD voucher for an AP at the booth though before you enter. If you tried to upgrade the GAD to a 4 day pass (or anything other than an AP), that is when you must use the ticket first.
