After 3 DVC trips I find myself MISSING the Fort . Anyone have any luck using their points for camping? And if so, is there a 'better' time of the year for availability? MS isn't much help...Surely we're not the only DVC member that like camping as much as the 2 bdrm villa...

Have had problems also, but we don't really care as long as we're at WDW.

I just cancelled a FW stay in June to stay at SSR instead. Sept. we're at FW then Oct. we're at OKW. Nov. we're skipping this year then Dec. and Jan. back at FW for now.

If we can't use the points at FW then we stay elsewhere.

My plan is to buy into DVC when they create DVC campsites... until then, it doesn't make any sense to have points.

I agree, and since they don't have any trouble filling the FORT and they very, very, very rarely discount camp sites I don't see it happening. JMHO

We don't even mess with points when going to the Fort. We use the points only when going to the DVC resorts. When we want a Fort Fix, we just suck it up and pay cash.

I know its all "funny money", but I think the points are better off used at the DVC resorts...

I tried unsuccessfully last year to book FW with points, and again this year for next Feb. I finally gave up trying to book a site with points, and rented points to someone else using the DVC rent boards here.

Oh is it that difficult to book a camp site with DVC points??
I was just thinking maybe I should try camping for my up coming October trip. It is full every DVC resort except SSR, currently we have 2 nights in SSR follow by 2 night at VWL. Since I don't really like SSR, I thought to myself, maybe we should try camping this time. have fun at FW and then move next door to VWL... I haven'te even check with MS about availabity. Is this a bad idea??

Actually we have been able to use points on stays at the cabins, but still no luck with camper...we really have found something different and equally enjoyable about SSR, BLT, and BWV, but there's just something about FW that feels like home!!

Guess I'm gonna join the ranks of cash ressie's for spots at the Fort, and save the points for the big family stays with the grown kids.
