Sure, but you have to book a package through Disney Reservations Center.

You can't get any of these with a points stay.

you do forfeit the "privilege" to pay full price for your room to get "free" dining, since DVC stays on points are already discounted.

as stated, DVC members can still pay cash to get "free" dining if they think the value is worth it (and then rent their points for cash or else bank their pts for the next year).

but most DVC owners don't think free dining is worth it. if it works for you, DVC is probably not a great option in your case.

Hear, hear. What Chalee was pointing out here is that there's nothing free about "free dining". "There's no such thing as a free lunch" has literal application here. I didn't sense any ire toward the OP.

You thought that was rude? He was just pointing out that if you are someone who likes those types of Disney deals, DVC probably won't work for you because DVC members don't get any Disney deals. Never.

Just saying... since i joined about a week or two ago, I've noticed attitude among what appear to be senior members of the site.

I ama member of several message boards and I have the intelligence to read into tones. Seems like some of the people here have a "holier than thou" attiude.

And no, I don't need things sugar coated.

Perhaps you should just let it go. You're new here, people trying to help you and you are having difficulty recognizing their help. We get threads all the time asking why someone should or should not buy into DVC. Some of us "senior members" have been around long enough to know what has changed and what hasn't. Most of us don't sugar coat. We tell it like it is. Not holier than thou, just knowledgeable and willing to share the information.

Try the search engine on the board if you want to find the simple answers. We get some of those questions almost daily.

I don't think anyone was rude or had an attitude. I am afraid you have bought into something you are not completely aware of the pros and cons and when given what can be percieved by some as a con, it was not well received.

There is much to like about DVC, basically really nice, large accommidations.

There is much to not like.

I hope you end up liking more than disliking.

As to the free dining. It is a package deal offered by Disney Travel not DVC. To get the package deal you have to pay for a room with cash not points, buy tickets and they give you the free dining during time periods when they are trying to fill rooms.

Just as many would like the annual pass at $100 off, they don't qualify as they are not DVC.

If you are booking a stay on points you do not qualify for free dining.

I really think you're being over-sensitive here. Nobody is giving you attitude. The other posters are just trying to help you.

The other thing I would mention to you is that if special offers would play any role at all in your decision process, you are making a big mistake.

DVC members get some good perks, but none of those are guaranteed and they can and do go away with the stroke of a pen. In some cases, they have literally gone away overnight. Considering perks at all is a huge sucker bet, and it makes you a prime target for a skillful DVC timeshare salesman who will fill your head with perks and benefits and sell you DVC at a 25-40% premium over what you should pay resale.

If you are considering purchasing DVC, focus on the main use of DVC (and the ONLY thing you are guaranteed as a DVC owner) -- using your points for vacations at your home resort. Everything else is gravy, and it may not exist a year from now -- so focus on the real benefit of DVC ownership. If that justifies the purchase price and annual dues, great. If it's not a good fit for your family, don't grasp at straws trying to justify a purchase you shouldn't make.

Not at all. You asked a question and were given the definitive answer. The problem is that you asked a question that is probably the most frequent one on these boards. After a few hundred times, people get a bit short with their answers.
