Does anyone else feel that all Studio's should NOT have a sleeper sofa? I really dislike that they have them in the DVC rooms. It is the 1 thing about the DVC I really cannot stand. If I checking into a hotel with a family of 4 and they gave me a room with a queen bed and a pull out couch, I would be REALLY MAD. Why should this be any different at my DVC resort?

I feel the sleeper sofa's make the DVC Rooms less of a room, even a little more tacky. I know they say it is supposed to be like "HOME", but I would not sleep on a sleeper sofa in my home. I would not want my guest sleeping on 1 either. I don't sleep on it myself, the kids do, but my feeling is, that we all pay alot of money to join the DVC, why should any of us including our kids have to sleep on a pull out couch? I view DVC as a luxury for my family and it really just urks me that my kids have to sleep on a sleeper sofa.

Does anyone even ever fold it up during the day and sit around on it and watch TV? Or is everyone else like us, once we open it up, it stays open until we check out.

I feel that if ALL Studios had 2 queen beds instead of 1 bed and 1 sleeper that this would be a greater asset to my family and many other family's. This would also make the 2 BR Homes a much better place since, the 2nd bedroom in a 2 bedroom is just a regular studio.

They should at least take them out of half the studios and offer it to us as an otption. Do you want studio with or without a sleeper? That would even make me happy.

These should be the 2 choices that are offered for all studios:

Option #1 - 1 King Bed with a regular love seat sofa for relaxing.
Option #2 - 2 Queen Beds, no sofa.

Couples go for option #1 Families go for option #2

While I agree the sleeper/queen combination doesn't work for me, many people prefer it, especially for "coulples only" vacations. You always have the option of booking OKW, they have 2 queens in all studios. I can see where adding yet another booking class would be a nightmare for MS. Plus, it may not exactly be legal to switch any existing studios, as it would "substantially" change what was purchased under FL timeshare laws.

Actually, DH and I have used the sofa in the studio as a sofa to relax (i.e. waiting for the other one to finish in the shower, can watch TV, drink coffee).

But, I'd be willing to give up the sofa (in some cases) if they'd put a king sized bed in some of the studios!

Interestingly, DVC started with OKW having two Queens in the studios. Not sure why they switched to Queen/Sofabed in the subsequent DVC's.

My guess? When I lived in a Studio apartment in Manhattan, I lived in it by myself except for one summer when I let my friend stay with me. I had a Queen bed and a sofabed. So, I just see the DVC studios as a reflection of how a studio apt. would be set up if someone actually lived in it. (And truth be told, I would not have wanted to share it with more than one person in it for any length of time, and it was larger than the DVC studios, lol).

I will say that we've stayed in the Inn Rooms at Vero (2 Queens) and the Studio at Vero (Queen/Sofabed) and when it's just DH and me, we really prefer the studio set-up. DH and I could easily be convinced to live in the Vero studio (if it were just the two of us :rotfl: ). Go on, twist our arms!

I had to vote for # 3, but my actual vote would have been "There are only 2 of us, so we never open the sofa bed. We enjoy having a couch in the room."

We LOVE the sofasleepers. Not so much to sleep on, but to SIT on. The chairs around the table are not very comfortable so we really utilize our sofa for sitting. Even when we use the sofabed for sleeping, we make it up in the morning so we can sit on it during the day and evening and it isn't taking up so much room. The sofas are the main reason we haven't stayed in an OKW studio yet -- they don't have them!

I'd bet they put in a queen bed and a double sleeper sofa because they couldn't fit two queen beds in the room. When they started the other WDW DVC resorts, they changed the configuration extremely. They had a lot less space in the rooms, so the sleeper sofa seems like a way to make the room look bigger. Next time you open the sleeper sofa, take a good look at your available space. It won't be much at all.

That's why we don't stay in studios, except for maybe OKW with the two queen beds.

although some of the studios are smaller than others, might be very tight w/2 queens

why not a Q & a double murphy bed (more comfortable IMO)

The presence of the sofa bed, especially when told by DVC that it sleeps 2, was the biggest stumbling block to our purchase of DVC. However, I wanted DVC in so much as I liked the idea of having a "home" at WDW.

The dedicated studios in BCV that have only a Q and a sofa bed prompted our add on purchase there. Before I bought AKV, I did ask if there would be dedicated 2 bedrooms with 2Qs. If my family is coming, I want them to be as comfortable as they can be, and you can bet that for our DVC stays, I'll be calling 11 months out day by day to get one of the dedicated 2 bedrooms with the 2 Q's. VWL has them...BWV doesn't, but if/when we stay at BWV with everyone, I'm going for a GV!

We don't care for the studios at OKW for the simple reason that I want a place to sit in the studio and not on another bed. If I am going to get a studio, it will not be a OKW if at all possible. Two beds make it just a big hotel room. As my husband and I get older and visit WDW on a more regular basis, we enjoy taking our time in the room and just relaxing a bit and for us that means being able to sit and read on a sofa not a bed. I can't see DVC having different types of studios (what a nightmare that would be :scared: ) . People would be mad if they didn't get the type they requested and it would be just one more thing for the CM's at check-in to get complaints about.

Now this is just my opinion, but the King rooms at GCH seem smaller in square footage compared to the DVC studios, and those rooms have a King bed and a sofa. I would LOVE this same arrangement in the DVC studios.:thumbsup2

Basically what I'm saying is, as one half of a happily married couple who actually shares a bed;) , I don't mind having the sofa in the studio (I actually like having the sofa). It's the queen bed that I mind! We deal with it, but would I prefer a room with a King bed and a sofa? - YOU BET!

I voted for option 5 - "We hate it, we suffered through it, we closed it every day, we can understand why many people like having a sofa instead of 2 queens, and we'll never do that again."

Having done a BCV studio and an OKW studio as experiments, I'm quite sure we'll never use a studio without 2 queens again. For our family -- 2A/1C.

For a couple, I'd prefer the couch, but I'd sure like to have a real couch -- not a sofabed which is equally uncomfortable as a sofa and as a bed.

And yes, we had the new sofabeds.

I voted for 1, but easily could have chosen 2 as well. As a family, we don't want to be cramped in a hotel room, so we prefer not to stay in a studio. 1brs & up for us from now on :goodvibes

We did stay in a studio last summer at SSR for 10days: DH & I, DD13,DS10. We pulled the bed out every night and closed it up each morning. We also set up a aerobed each night for one child, then stood it up against the wall during the day. It was so much nicer to be able to sit on the couch and relax in the room instead of having 2 beds.

I agree, there's no way they could put 2 queens in a BWV room. Or a king and a sofabed.

I have warmed up to the setup though. I like having the sofa closed during the day, so much more room.

If you think about it, we stay in a 1 BR all the time, and we have a King Bed and a sleeper sofa. My DS sleeps on the pullout sofa, we fold it up everyday and use the living room. We have no problem with the sleeper sofa and I don't see why there would be a problem with it in the studios. If you really want 2 Queen Beds stay at OKW!:thumbsup2

I couldn't vote in the poll, as our answer depends on whether you're talking about a studio, versus the second bedroom of a 2-bedroom

In a studio, we love the sofa, as we like being able to have a place to sit down and relax during the day. Usually that's just DH and me, although sometimes we have a baby with us when we're in a studio.

In a second bedroom of a 2-bedroom, though, a sofa is a pain! We much prefer having 2 real beds in there!

No option suitable in the poll as never use the sleeper sofa for sleeping so, love the sleeper sofa in a studio it is great for sitting on and give more floor space :)

Claire ;)

We prefer the sleeper sofa to 2-queen beds. We've got kids that use it as a bed, but I don't like messes and I'd make the bed everyday anyway - it actually seems quicker to just fold the couch. Plus, more space and a nice sitting area for TV watching. Much better than sitting on a bed!!!
