I am a retired guy and was thinking about what DVC has for seniors. There seems to be very few senior perks. Old Key West is a wonderful resort for snowbirds. I suspect SS will be to.
Anyone have any input?

My grandparents are members and love it. They usually spend 2 weeks in Vero, 1 week in OKW and 1 week in HH. They really enjoy laying around the pool and reading.

My parents love OKW. It's hard for Mom to get around and the parking out front is perfect for her. The rooms are also big which is nice if you plan to relax in your room a lot. My Dad LOVES Olivia's. It's his favorite for breakfast. I think the relaxing atmosphere is just perfect for families and adults. We would go to Florida for OKW alone!

My mom is a youthful 70 and loves joining DH and I at WDW. The fine dining, AK and World Showcase are her favorites, along with the Adventurer's Club at PI.

We plan to take her to Jellyrolls this July when we are there together, and she loves the sounds of it. She especially enjoys the BWV and BCV area, though she hasn't joined us at OKW yet.

My wife and I will be snowbirding down to OKW for the winter starting in January of 2005. I don't know or care about senior perks because as far as I am concerned just getting out of Connecticut in January will be a big enough perk for me. I was at OKW last January and thought I was in heaven. I don't think there are any discounts for seniors at OKW. We plan to do it every winter.

In general DVC does not have as many "activities" or discounts as most timeshares. It's more a place to stay to go to the parks for the onsite resorts. That's not to say just hanging out at the reorts isn't fune, just not as many scheduled, formal actvities as some other locations. I know many seniors that enjoy WDW and the resorts. What type of "senior" benefits did you have in mind?

While on our last trip to Disney I met a retired couple that lived in the New York/New Jersey area and relocated to Orlando. They told me they had owned a OKW contract and thought they would not need it since they now lived in Orlando.

Bottom line... is they said they regretted selling OKW and should have kept it for use when they had the grandchildren visit. Also, they said they had the Florida resident passes and would visit EPCOT many times just to go to dinner. They also said they enjoyed staying at the DVC resorts. From my observation and coversations with senior citzens they enjoy Disney as much as anyone. My mother-in-laws first trip to Disney last year when she was 82 and she can't wait to go back. We were at Disney during the holidays and she loved the candle procession. She also enjoyed most of the rides.

Who said seniors can't have fun. Enjoy!!1

DW and I are both "qualified" seniors who love our DVC and OKW. We visit several times a year and enjoy the whole complex at WDW, including the resort hotel resraurants, parks, DTD and the other DVC resorts. WE have tried BCV and BWV but we always come back to the 1 BR at OKW because of the spacious accomodations and other amenities. We are not "hotel" type people. Also we have had some great family trips with out kids and grandkids.
We are lucky enough to have a condo in Ft. Myers during the winter and purchase AP's. We are considering staying at OKW for a couple weeks in January, but we will need more points to make it work.

We bought our first DVC 3 1/2 years ago (two months after we retired) at BWV. We added on last year at BCV. Have stayed at all the DVC except HH. Love them all but prefer BWV and BCV because Epcot is our favorite resort. We walk over there at least once a day. I can't think of any senior benefit I would want. We probably spend more time in the parks than most young people. We go at least 4 times a year.

Jbthi, I am your neighbor in Ellettsville and you guys are real role models -- I tell dear hubby all the time that I want to travel for WDW over and over again! If I can't live in Florida now (dh has a great job at IU and we love our Elementary school), then lots of trips a year is a good 2nd choice! When we retire someday, look out -- I will be with Mickey A LOT!

Colleen, We go through Ellettsville quite a bit. Used to have a friend that lived there also. I hope you manage several trips to WDW. Friends just shake their heads when we tell them we're going again. :p It keeps us young though.
