I am very new to DVC. In the past, good discounts have had an influence on my travel patterns.

I look at the FTP, and it seems like a really good deal. However, I wanted to join DVC, and would not be returning until 2004 anyway. So I bought DVC, and will not look back (have wanted to do this for 4 years).

My question is... Does DVC ever offer great deals similiar to the FTP? I know that some of you have been talking about an email newsletter, for which if you sign up, there is a chance at some PAPs thru a drawing. That is not what I am referring to.

With my mother's vacation club, she can book "getaways" at 30 & 60 days out for significant points and / or cash savings. I know that there are lower level point stays during non-peak travel periods.

10% off a LOS (or PHP) is nice (it is similiar to the DC discount that I have always received right?), but I don't think that I would ever buy one. I plan to vacation at WDW for like 10-15 days per year. APs and PAPs are a much better deal for me, and I will buy a set of APs just prior to the end of the year when DC ceases to exist.

Why would DVC not offer a discount for the APs and PAPs? Or do they, and I just missed it... You would think that DVCers are some of Disney's best guests and will spend the most money shopping, eating, and using recreation.

I know that this can not be a new topic...

The free PAP's were in the Mickey Monitor, which is a newsletter for annual passholders, not related to DVC. Each issue they have a drawing from all passholders for 2 free PAP's (4 issues a year). There is no AP discount for DVC members, just UPH (length of stay). Members have been lobbying for it for some time, but I guess they do not see the benefit for them to offer it.

DVC does not have special offers for DVC or WDW rooms. They do sometimes have cruise specials.

DebbieB... Acutally, somone posted the other day that they received a postcard from DVC that told them that if they put their name in the system to receive E-mail updates that their name would be entered in a contest for I think, 4 PAP's.

As far as discounts for APs, no there is not one and that is really the one thing I would love to see as a DVC benefit. We normally go around 18 days a year so we really don't want the UPH's.

hi: we did get a mailing from dvc regarding a "drawing" to award 1 person up to 4 aps if you registered your e-mail address on the dvc site. they said the contest only starts today, 6/1 and the drawing will be on/about 7/9/03.

I just got that e-mail this morning, nice idea from DVC! I thought the OP was referring to a post by someone that a family member just won the PAP's offered in the mickey monitor.

I just received the email this morning, too. I agree, it is a neat idea.
