Okay we just purchased points at SSR. Do DVC members get in on the free dinning? If not can you use points to purchase a dinning plan? We like the dinning plan but we are brand new to DVC so if I could get some help that would be great!
DVC members do not get free dining. You can not use points to purchase the Dining Plan. You have to call and have it added to your ressies so many days before your check in dates (can't remember how far in advance right now). You pay for it when you checkin using cash, check, or credit card. Everyone on your reservation must get the dining plan.
You can scroll down to the DVC threads and get alot of infromation about DVC there.
As of the other day, you have to notify DVC member services 48 hours prior to your arrival date that you wish to include the Dining plan. We do not get any discounts or freebies for the dining plan for being in the DVC. Maybe one day this will change though.
Thanks for the info. That's to bad, it would be nice if they did offer some discounts or the option to use points for stuff like that. I can't wait to go as a DVC member for the first time.
Yes, unfortunately, you have to book a package with ticket to get the free dining. Even though we are DVC members, we usually just stay at Pop with one-day base ticket to get the free dining (for family of 7, it's definitely worth it)! We alternate using our points with getting other discounts on rooms/packages for our trips. It's nice being able to use the points though - makes the price so much lower!

so if you book one day at POP are you then able to get free dining for length of stay or just that one noght you are at POP? Thinking about becoming a DVC member, but really enjoy free dining option

1) Nope.
2) No to both questions.
3) Your points (and, thus, nights) are already counted.
4) So, they do not need to induce you to come.
5) Which is a reason for free dining.
6) You can buy it, but not get it for free.
7) They should have told you this during the sales process.

If you stay only one night then you only get it for that night, you have to book all of your stay at Pop to get the free dining for everynight that you are there. You have to purchase the package: room and at least one days park ticket for everyone on your reservation. With my family of 4 we still come out ahead being in DVC and not getting the free dining. We buy annual passes use them twice or three times a year. Our room is paid for. Right now we only have to add 3 dining plan to our ressies because one of my DS is only about 2 and eats for free, this cost us less than $700.
To get free dining, you have to pay for a full price room. DVC studios start at $269 plus tax, 1 bedrooms $385. Over the life of the contract, DVC rooms are about 75% off, so they are not going to give you free dining on top of it.
It specifically says in the contract that points can only be used to reserve rooms.
Depends on how long it takes for everything to be finalized. We might go over the Halloween weekend for 4 or 5 nights or 1st or 2nd week of Nov. If we can get in but that time of year I think we should find something.
