DVC and Dining Plan??

I had read on the dis boards somewhere that in 2011 Disney was changing the Dining plan so that you could get the plan for any number of nights not just your whole stay. Example we are going for 6 nights and only want 2 nights deluxe dining which would give us 6 meals each and then we could use the 12 Dining credits anytime during those 6 nights. Is this info that was posted correct or just a rumor? OP said that when he made his reservations they told him this was new for 2011. Any help would be appreciated. I have rented the points and dont want to have the owner spending her time researching this subject.:surfweb:

Changes to the DVC DDP take effect 10/14 -- the "most confirmed" (LOL - for lack of a better term) is that you will have to pay for it in advance. The other changes have been confirmed by a few people with connections, but no details are available.

I've read on the DVC boards that they will roll out other changes to the resorts individually, so I don't think anyone knows for sure yet how it will work or when it will take effect.

Edited: You might want to check the running thread on the DVC Planning board to see if there are more recent details available.

That would be... awesome. If they do this, I hope it extends to guests who manage to swing an RCI trade (like I hope to). I really like DxDP, but I can imagine only wanting, say, 15 credits (5 nights) over a 7 night stay, especially when staying in a place that has its own kitchen.

all the chages I read claim that the dining is still connected to the nights of purchase. All credits will still expire at midnight of the days dining plan is added to the reservation. What you are talking about would be fantastic...but I really doubt they would give the flexibility of using credits purchsed for 2 days the ability to be spread over 6 days. That would be great....but I doubt it;) As posted it is all still speculation at this point.

Reading that link, it looks like you can break up your ressies into sub parts. For instance, say I have a week at Beach Club. I have 4 going from Sunday to Thursday, then 2 more are joining on Friday and Saturday. I can pay for the 4 people for that week for dining, then just pay for the other 2 for the two days.

Isn't that what you guys get?

I already have room reservations and added the dining plan for July 2011. What happens in this case because I didn't pay for it?

I want to make sure I can secure all my ADR at 6 months. Wondering if I should call after changes are put into effect:confused:

DDP added before the changes can be paid at check-in.

For those that want to segment their reservations (an after upgrade perk), they can add the DDP late (48 hours before check in) and you don't need to pay for the DDP until you add it to your reservation.

The change will be that you can break your stay up into different parts, even if you stay at the same resort in the same room. So you could add and subtract people, and change dining plans, for each individual part.

You could do three "parts" at the same resort, have four people on the first two days with DDP, three people on the second part with no DDP, and two people on the last two days with DXDDP. However, the credits still expire at the conclusion of each "part" and everyone registered in the room for each individual "part" still has to purchase the same dining plan.

You would not be able to get a plan for the first two days and stretch it out over all six, and if you had four people registered in the room during any "part" you could not purchase a dining plan for just two of them.

I can pay for the 4 people for that week for dining, then just pay for the other 2 for the two days.

Technically you'd be paying for the dining plan for four for the first 5 nights (on a 7 night stay). Then you would be starting a new reservation "part" in which you'd be paying for a dining plan for six for two nights. You don't get a full 7 night dining plan for four, then add two more for the last two nights. The caveat with this system is that the dining plan for four expires at midnight after the dining plan for six starts.

In the same boat...just want to make sure that I'll still be paying at check in? Renting points from a DVC member for a January trip and he added the DDP to the reservation back in August. Will I need him to make any changes or can I still pay at check-in?

Thanks!

I had already booked deluxe dining plan for first night of my stay last week, The DVC member was told that because I booked the plan before OCT, 12 that I would not pay til check in. If I book any dining plans after the computer changes (OCT 14) I would have to pay when booked.
