DVC and Dining Plan questions

Hi, I'm renting DVC points for the first time this year and am full of questions. I'm bothered by the fact that I can not pick up the phone and speak to someone at WDW about my reservations, but that the person I'm renting from must do that. If I purchase the dining plan, does the DVC member have to make all my ADR's?

I have a special needs daughter and we usually have several requests that we phone in, will the DVC member have to do that as well?

What if we decided to change something, like an ADR, or a request a room change, will we be able to do that or will we have to call our DVC member?

I'm getting ready to make my first payment and I'm very nervous about not having control of this vacation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Wendy

You will have some freedom in the reservation process concerning food. The DVC member will need to add the dining plan to your reservation. You will make your own ADRs and food schedule. The DVC member will not need to help you beyond that. You will need to contact dining to let them know about allergies. You could also call the restaurant specifically.

You can have the DVC member put in a room request for you, but if you get to the resort and want to change rooms you can do that yourself as long as it is in the same point range. You do give up some control of your reservation, but the accomadations are worth it

Your food reservations are your own to make once the DVC member adds it to the reservation. Beyond that, anything that has to do with the reservation itself (like room requests etc,) must be done through the member.

If you are uncomfortable with that lack of control, then you will likely be better off going directly to Disney for your reservation rather than renting from a DVC member. DVC members who rent our reservations are mostly people who can't use all their allotment of points for a given year. They are not travel agents (or at least they shouldn't be), so their only involvement is securing the reservation. Your tickets, dining plan, dinner reservations etc, are all yours to make on your own through the regular WDW-DINE number.

You won't be able to request any changes to your room since you are not the member. If you get to the villa and need a different location, you may be able to that, but it will cost you $25 to make the change.

I agree with Diane on this. If lack of control is a big concern to you, make your reservation directly through Disney.
