I thought I read somewhere that a certain age "child" must order off the kids menu if on the dining plan. Does that apply to only children 3-9? It wouldn't make sense to force the 10 year-old to order off the kids menu if we have to pay full adult price for her, right?

That's right - those 10 and older order off the adult menu. If there are children on the plan (ages 3 - 9 who paid the child price), then the children must order off the children's menu if one is available.

In researching the dining plan, I also read this week (from either dvcmember.com or disneyworld.com) that children under 3 are welcome to eat off of the adults plate if desired. I.e. since under 3 do not get their own meals under the plan.

I do remember, when our kids were under 3, that they would not get charged for any 'fixed price' meals like buffets/character meals, etc. I wonder if that has changed....

It's still true - you would only pay for 3 and under if you actually order something off the menu for them.

Best wishes -
