We are going on our first DVC trip in Feb and staying for 7 days in SSR. We contacted MS today to add DDP to our booking and were told that we can book this without buying any park ticket. I was under the impression that to book DDP we had to buy at least a one day park ticket.

Can anyone help clarify this for me?

Not with DVC. When staying on points you can just add the dining plan. A lot of DVC members have APs, or are only visiting the resorts - and Disney has given us that flexibility.

You did not mention if you were renting points or if you are an owner. If you are renting points and want the DDP, then you need to tell the owner so that they can call MS and tell them that you are on the DDP. If you are the owner, then you need to call MS.

Thanks Crisi. I can go ahead and book my park tickets now and take advantage of the current exchange rates.

I am so greatful for this forum. DW and I are considering purchasing DVC. Can someone point me in the direction that clearly explains DDP and DDE. I'm a bit confused and would like to know what each one entails....Thanks:headache:

We are new owners (OKW resale) and this is our first trip to DVC. Spoke to MS today but wanted to check here as I get the distinct impression that there is far more knowledge and experience on these boards then at MS.

in short, DDP lets you prepay some of your dining costs if you stay onsite and eat at disney restaurants. you pay for DDP and get meal credits for one person.

DDE is a discount card for use at many disney restaurants - only available to FL residents (BTW, buying DVC does not equal FL residency) and AP holders - which gives a discount that can apply to several people at the table.

DVC do not need to buy tickets.
