There was a four day DVC Member Cruise this past February, still waiting on word about a member cruise for 2004, talk is it might be a 7 day cruise next time.

I think the cruise was pretty much a sell out the first day or two that reservations were being taken. Some rooms opened up at the 60 day mark. I'm pretty sure that points and or cash can be used for payment. I know a lot of DVC Members are waiting to hear about the next members cruise.

dollars-wise, about how much is this cruise? i know it will determine which category, but just a ballpark figure. thanks! :p

I wasn't on the DVC Member cruise this year, but I know the people who used points said that it was more points than a regular 4 day cruise, but, they also received some nice gifts as well. I have no idea what the price would be if it were going to be a 7 day cruise.

Maybe someone that was on the Member Cruise this past February can help you out.

My DH (MarkRG) and I were on the Member Cruise and everything Andy has told you is correct. The point chart came out about a month before reservations were taken. The points for our Category 8 were about 6 points higher than if we had booked a 4-day cruise during that same time period.

What made the cruise different (dare I say special because some people were upset with that term) :) was that it stopped at Castaway Cay twice and everyone on board was either a DVC Member or a quest of one. You could pay by either points or cash. There was no exchange fee for this cruise, but if you paid cash it had to be in full on the day of booking. Member Services opened up on a Saturday morning and the cruise was about 90% booked that day, sold out on the following Monday. Additional cabins did open up a little later.

A lot of members on it would like another and yes the 7 day would be a popular choice. I'd say look at the charts for 7 day cruises and that will give you a ballpark.

There has been no definate news that I've heard of regarding another one, but stay tuned!

I asked this same question at the Member Update meeting last Thursday and Susie - the guide - said although this was a big hit and sold out faster than DCL thought it would, there are currently no plans for another one. She said if we are interested in one we should write to DVC and let them know there is still a strong interest. Annmarie
