DVC and celebrations

Hi, all. When I view my vacation activities on the DVC website, it has a link next to my upcoming trip that reads, "enter celebration information." Of course, I'm aware that Disney's latest promo is "What Will You Celebrate?," so I clicked the link and entered the celebration info (my father and I are going together in October, and he happens to have just beat colon cancer this year, so I wanted to commemorate that in some way).

My question is this: does Disney have you enter that info because they intend to take it upon themselves to mark the occasion in some way, or do they have you enter it just so they can store the info until a certain point when they start sending emails about things you can purchase yourself in order to enhance the celebration? I'd like to think Disney would do a little something on their own - like even a pin or something, but I think that's probably getting my hopes up.

Has anyone been to Disney with anything to celebrate since the promotion started? Thanks.

Sorry I don't have an answer for you but I'm very interested in the answer. We will be celebrating something a little unusual ourselves and I'm not sure what to expect. Anyone? :confused3

OK, I just answered my own question. I contacted DVC, and they said that when you click on the link next to your reservation on the DVC website and enter your celebration info, it automatically notifies the front desk, housekeeping, and any restaurants about what you're there to celebrate. So I guess the answer is that whatever recognition you receive regarding your celebration during your stay will be entirely up to the individual facilities/people you encounter. With my dad having beat cancer, I'm curious to see what, if anything, will be done, since it can be an awkward topic to bring up for some people, regardless of what the outcome was. Should be interesting.

Thanks for the update. It gives me a little insight to what they might do. I haven't put my celebration info in yet. :upsidedow

Have a magical trip snarkyredhead! :wizard:

We were just there before Easter and my 2 daughters were celebrating their graduations (1 from high school and one from college) They both got buttons on check in that said they were celebrating graduation, and at dinner after Le' Cellier (Canada), they presented them with a card all the waitstaff had signed congratulating them.

Where is the link? I'm on the DVC website and when I pull up my vacation details I don't see a link. Please help. TIA

My DH and I are celebrating our 12 anniversary in June. I was wondering if I could purchase bathrobes or turndown service to be a surprise for one evening.

Anyone ever done this?
