I couldn't decide if I should post this question here or the Transportation Board, but figured my fellow dvc'ers would understand the DVC issue a little better. I am currently booked at AKV from 12/6 - 12/13. Of course, airfare prices are all over the place and I want to get my airfare purchased.

Here's my choices: 1) AA - Fly into Tampa for $218. for 12/6 - 12/13; or 2)
Delta - Fly into Orlando for 12/3 - 12/10 for $244.

With AA I have to pay the baggage fee, but get to keep my reservation as is. I have flown to Tampa many times so I am not overly concerned about the drive - but I do prefer going into Orlando. Also, my rental car will be about $50. more, plus about $15. extra in gas.

With Delta there is no baggage fee; I get to arrive directly into Orlando; but I will have to go on a waitlist for AKV for 12/3 - 12/5.

Southwest is sky-high right now and even if they do come down, their schedule is not good at all so they are not an option this trip.

WWYD? :confused3

Well, since I live in Florida I will give you my opinion. I would take the American flight. You already have your reservation for those dates. Also do you need a car while you are there or just to get from Tampa. You could easily do two one way rentals and save yourself some money. Don't be surprised to see Delta add a baggage fee now that Northwest has.

Have you checked out the Dec. waitlist thread? Flying into Orlando is obviously more convenient, but I would be hesitant to go on the waitlist. I know I have been on it since the 7 month mark and I haven't gotten what I wanted and I think a lot of others are in the same boat.
Good luck w/ whatever you decide :)

I would stick with what you have and fly into Tampa. Yeah, the drive is a little longer, but the airport will be less crazy and you are already set with AKV. Rental car prices might change as well.

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Go with the reservation you have and do not go onto the wait list. So, I'd go with the AA flight and car rental.

Same here. I've been on the waitlist for a 2 bedroom at AKV for 12/2 for months.

I'd take the Tampa flights, even if they aren't the best. Like a lot of folks, my recent experiences with the airlines changing flights and increasing prices tells me that airline prices, flights, and way of travel that we've grown accustomed to are gone. Maybe things will get better once fuel prices come down, but the airlines are in deep trouble so I'd book the knowns while you can.

I prefer the bush to the hand, but that's me.

Fly straight into MCO for $244. I'd take that in a heartbeat. The difference is less than $30, unless you have a lot of people it's worth the convenience.

I would take the MCO flight and book at POP or All stars as a back up to the waitlist:thumbsup2

I agree that booking a new room would be nearly impossible at this late date...

Go with Tampa.
