Thanks!! I enjoyed putting it together. The ornaments I have had for quite sometime so I was happy to finally use them!! I thought the red was nice with the white lights of the tree.

As a family who has enjoyed sharing trees for several years, I wanted to stressed this very important step. We have been the 3rd or 4th family to have shared a tree in the past and found the contributions envelope empty when we receive the tree. Many very generous people have spent a lot of time and money to make our holiday stays at WDW a little merrier and the least we can do is help them cover their expenses.

We typically put in $5 to help cover the shipping both ways (unless the envelope is looking empty and then we put more). Remember, the last person on the list will have to ship it back so hopefully there will be enough contribution that the original shipper will get some back when the tree returns home.

I seem to be missing from the BLT Tree's. I was on I believe tree #3 and now we are not. We are travelling Dec 21-26th. Did not receive anything to confirm our dates. Not sure if that would be the problem?? Would love to get back on a tree list.

Personally - I'd suggest you put more. We've done this 3 times (all 3 times we were the last family and had to ship back. We've always added at least $10 to the "pot."

It usually costs a minimum of $20 - $25 for us to ship back (often there are 2 boxes.) AND you want to be able to send money to original sender.

With an average of about 5-6 families having the tree. I'd suggest at least $10 per family. (Any extra money you can send to original tree donater and they can buy more ornaments for next year!)

However - as the last family to get the tree every year... you'd be VERY surprised how empty the envelope usually is

I have found Fed Ex to be the cheapest way to ship. I usually do a comparison between Fed Ex, UPS, and USPS.....Fed Ex usually comes in cheapest. All shipping is high this past year, but if all the families chip in, it's not so bad.
I'm truly surprised to hear that not all families chip in. When I shipped last year, it was close to $30 each way, so I hope all those that are enjoying a tree this year help to offset the cost of shipping.

We always do a last-minute trip to DVC in Dec (the last minute part being we never know what our work schedules will be until Halloween, so we can't ever plan far ahead). This year we'll be at VWL from Dec 15-20. Looks like those dates are open on the OP, and if at all possible, we'd love to share a tree and would be happy to contribute to the shipping costs. It's just DH and I and our 2 y/o son, looking forward to sharing the "christmas magic" with him, since he'll get it this year! Please let me know if its possible for us to join the fun!

I've always just walked boxes to the front desk (concierge) and they've been happy to ship it for me. I've always paid more than $20 but less than $30 (depending on # of boxes.)

So... 5 or 6 families at $10/each...should cover it. But again - I don't think $5 will suffice. Just sayin'....

Also - just a thought for tree donaters. I've had years where there was WAY TOO MUCH sent down. One year I had 2 full boxes of ornaments/deck decorations/multiple light strings/etc - MOST of which didnt seem to be even touched by all the tree swappers. I've had 3 or 4 boxes of ornaments left unopened. It's only a 3 or 4 foot tree. A dozen ornaments will suffice. One year I literally had more ornaments sent then I'd typically put on my 7 ft tree at home. It's a wonderful thing to donate... but I (personally) just look forward to a small tree and a few ornaments. I just think that sending enough down to decorate an entire living room isn't really necessary and maybe is more trouble/money than necessary for the original tree donater. But hey..if you want to go above and beyond... that's your prerogative I guess

WDWSTAR - Are you going to post more specific directions for us swappers? I have never done a swap b4 and just want to make sure I do everything right. How much do we contribute for the shipping? Is the envelope safe in the box? We have 2 weeks to go. Can you tell I am getting excited?

WDWStar- I donated a tree last year and am donating again this year, but a refresher list of procedures would be a big help. My memory seems to be vacant. I know I had an big envelope inside the tree box with a small envelope for dontations, a sheet that listed all on the tree list, info on how to contact me (e-mail/phone) just in case of a problem, a shipping label for the return.
Also on the inside was strapping tape, On the outside of the box was a list of all the people on the tree list with their arrival dates. Am I missing anything?
I also plan on taking a picture of the box and sending it to the first person on the list just in case of a problem locating the box.

DVC Christmas Tree, Sharing A little DVC Holiday Magic!


Once again its time for the DVC Christmas Tree, Sharing alittle Magic.
We need A Few Wonderful DVC Members to Donate their Christmas Trees with our Wonderful DVC Members.

The Dates of the Tree passing are open from November 15 to Jan. 10th


I will except names,dates, and resorts up to Oct. 25th.

This is our 7th Year in Passing a Christmas Tree from
DVC Families to DVC Families, "Spreading a little DVC Holiday Magic".
Please drop the tree off on the date of your departure at 11am with the Bell service for the next family, also please cross your name off the list on the outside of the tree box. Also when dropping the tree off at the Bell service, please point out to the CM who the next family that will be picking up the tree. Pick up the tree at the Bell service day of arrival after 11 am. There will be a envelope for donations (in each tree box) for Shipping the trees to & from the resorts.

We are looking for DVC Families to donate a decorated tree, no bigger then 4 feet please, the perfect size is 2 1/2 to 3 feet. We need at least one or two trees per DVC resort, this includes HHI & Vero Beach.

In the past we have had up to 4 trees per resort.

You dont have to donate a tree, you are welcome to pm me with your ID name, resort your staying, and dates. I will do my best to get everyone in on the Magic.

When time gets closer you will pm me to confirm your dates,resort, at that time i will need you to pm me back with your last name.

I ask if you are staying in two different resorts that you only sign up for one stay, unless your dates are available when time gets closer.

hey WDWstar - still not quite enough to PM, so a public message! I will be at AKV starting dec 6th, so if the gap from the 9th to the 12th remains, I can fill it. If I understand right the tree will be coming from OKW - is there a preferred method for the transfer across resorts?
