DVC 25th Anniversary Perks

I don't understand where you were heading with your aside (post #151) and this follow-up comment. The SoCal Resident 2-day pass at $149 (reg $185) or 3-day pass at $179 (reg $235) are not offered to the General Public as implied in #151. They are offered to SoCal Residents -- and, if compared to WDW media, should be compared to FL-resident pass types. And unlike the recent 25th Anniversary passes offered to DVC Members, the SoCal passes expire on 26-May; the DVC MYW passes don't appear to carry an expiration date.

DVC MYW passes vs DLR SoCal passes? Not seeing a comparison ... except that buyers on either will face several attraction closures. (I'm missing Disneyland's Fantasmic! already. Hope to, perhaps, see it one last time ...)

The LOOSE correlation is that the SoCal deal is similar to recent past promotions...

This DVC one doesn't resemble anything. Not the 4/$200 ticket...certainly nowhere close to the AP ones.

It's a pretty pathetic "offer"...it is what it is.

I think you're trying to discount a stance that doesn't exist. I'm not saying I want the Disneyland deal...but closer to a past DVC one would be much appreciated.

Disney is not losing money on DVC. They are banking consistent revenue.

Here on the disboards...you get many posters who go and pay package prices year after year and are happy as clams...they tell you about it.

Foolishly...I might add. Especially "club level"...but i digress...

That's the outlier...by a factor of thousands.

The reality is they have no idea when the smiths from Huntington, Wv might be back...or even if...
Same with Tourisma Buen Nationale Brasilia...

You know who they know will be there?

That's worth more than the once in a lifetime big spenders to them. That money is gone. Guaranteed revenue is invaluable to corporate accounting. Mine comes back...even if I never buy a plushie or a "Disney parks" coffee mug

They only know that you will probably be back to the resort, unless you trade out or rent your points. There is no guarantee that a DVC member will spend more once they arrive than a nonDVC member. You could come to the resort, eat off property or in your villa and spend your days away from Disney parks.

The only thing that Disney the company knows about DVC is they like us to help cover the costs of running a resort. They are not real interested in us as far as dining, merchandise or parks. If they were we would see better discounts on those areas.

Disney could care less if the Smiths from WV come back or if the Jones from KY take their place. They are interested in numbers not names.

I'm going to change the subject for a minute and hope it doesn't get buried.

The Beach Bash last year. What time did it start. I read open at 7 but runs from 930 to 1230? were the slides still open after 930? why the huge gap? i also saw the transportation didn't start till 8?

any other details would be cool. We ate with friends at cindy's castle that night. But if some think it was fun we might head over after dinner.

Were we allowed to take any guests and if so how many? they are a family of 3 and would prob like to go if we did.

oh and what rides beside the lazy river and wave pool were still open?
thanks!

We went last year. You could get in early at 7pm all rides are open then and the park was still open for non dvc. As it got dark they closed 2 of the slides because there is no lighting on the side of the park. crusher gusher was one. The other slides at the back of the park were still open. We were the last out of the lazy river on the night we were there and it was after midnight. We brought 8 total. 4 were family friends staying with us in a treehouse. They were very clear you could only bring people registered in your room with you. If your room was big enough and the other family was not staying with you I suppose you could add them to the reservation to get them into the party.

Sorry I forgot to answer the transportation question. You can take normal Disney transport to TL but when it stops running, because the park closes, they then run buses only from the Dvc resorts for people going to the beach bash. We stayed late but I assume they had buses running back to the resorts all night in case people wanted to leave earlier.

I'm not suggesting that I spend more per day than the special trip travelers...what I remember of the data confirms the opposite.

But...my 8 year old has been there 18 times and has spent several months there.

That's a lot of food. And a lot of coping liquor for me ;)

The reality is they have made much more off me in a variety of matters...even if it only covers the overhead. Like the $1,000 of dues each year which they get whether I go near the place or not. That may not be as "profitable" on a given day. But in the end $1=$1

Wait till a recession and tell me how they won't need to kiss the frequent customers butts...that's when the fun will begin. The next one will be far worse for Disney than before because they ceased to care about the foundations that traditionally get them them through it.

Get your popcorn.

During the last recession, a Disney employee told me DVC prevented mass layoffs at WDW. Disney has to very careful pushing members offsite. Competition has caught up with Disney surpassing them in areas. It reminds me of the old saying.... Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered.

thanks so much for that. So other slides are open. cool. i didn't read that in the review I saw. i did see about the rules for guests. they aren't staying with us. they r over at WL in a regular room. guess they aren't coming and we are ditching them for the night. lol sorry that was mean. i guess they will have to enjoy other parks of the parks while enjoy this park. better? lol

thanks for the info

Just saw that the DVC Magic Kingdom party on March 3 is 9:30PM to midnight and only in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.

so excited. just got a BCV studio so we can attend the TL party. I have been stalking the website since I saw the party dates about 1 week ago.

I agree the ticket "incentive" is disappointing.

Out of all of the new perks, I think the Epcot lounge sounds the most appealing to me.

We attended the Beach Bash last year in Aug. and enjoyed it, but will not be vacationing this year during the scheduled parties in June & July.
Since we will be traveling with a 6-month old on our upcoming trip, which is the youngest we have yet vacationed with a kiddo, the lounge is the most appealing to us too. Unless there is some incredible merchandise we just can't live without, the rest really don't affect us.

Looking forward to using some of these perks...especially the beach bash....glad I live in the FLA!!!

I see the button and I guess maybe the photo thing? Although, that's not even at the Grand Cal or in a park- it's totally out of the way unless someone is purchasing. I only see events for WDW?
