I planted a huge pot of Dutch iris' on my deck this past fall. They are just starting to peak out of the ground. I just know they are going to be beautiful. This is the first time I have done this. The pot that I am using is the pot I generally use for a formal container garden. I am wondering what I should do about the bulbs once it comes time to plant the container.

Your deck planter sounds beautiful. You could overplant the bulbs with your annuals. Just don't bury the bulbs too deeply or they won't come up next year. I've overplanted in beds for season long color , never tried it in a container. Good luck!
