I am another one who figured out about a year ago that I can save time by using my vacuum cleaner to dust so I do both at the same time, but in top down order: wall pictures, ceiling fans, molding then furniture, TVs and finally the floor as I drag the vacuum cleaner from room to room.

Never have time to dust and vacuum in the same day so it does not really mattter.

Believe it or not most vacuum cleaners do not do a good job of getting off the layer of fine dust right on the surfaces of objects.

If you dust first then you break up that layer and the vacuum cleaner will pick up "the pieces" more easily.

As much as possible, coarse fluffy dust picked up by the feather duster or dust mop should be taken and shaken outside prior to vacuuming.

I'm just curious for those stating their vacuum gets all the dust, is you vacuum bagless?? If it is than how do you empty it without the dust going back in the air???

If you have a bagless vacuum cleaner, take it outdoors for emptying dust and dry material.

I haven't seen a bagless vac yet, other than one used to vacuum up liquids where a bag had to be installed for dry material.
