Duped Again No longer a fan of Disney- Resolution page 6

No flames but a suggestion...

If they are telling you that there are no non preferred rooms availble and you still continue to leave your ressie there I would contact the Manager and explain your situation and assuming that not both pools are closed, I would ask the manager to put you in Building 6 (it is preferred), back side, closet to Stadium Hall. Of corse this may not work but I would at least have the manager put this on my requests. This will put you close to the food court, and buses, and still be as close as you can get in to the open pool in between the Home Run Hotels.

I woudl suggest calling back and seeing if they will upgrade you to OKW or SSR for the same price. They upgraded tons weeks ago. If not switching to another resort. Speak to a supervisor of course. People are changing these free dinign plan ressies all the time. BIl added another day to theirs last week.

If you can't get anywhere with that I suggest taking the matter up with Guest Relations. They can get things to work for you at times.

WDW.Guest.Communications@disneyworld.com I had to go thru them in the spring. They were very helpful.

emial them and they will respond pretty quick...oh and do not send them anythign with an attachment. type it in the body of the email itself

Sorry to hear about your situation. Just try to keep a positive outlook. Your kids are young enough that they are going to follow your lead on vacation and if you keep a positive outlook about the pool, I'm sure for the most part they will too! Just say "Oh darn, I guess the pool is broken. We'll have to find something else fun to do." You are taking your kids on the best vacation ever and I really think they'll remember the wonderful time they had when Mommy and Daddy took them see Mickey Mouse. Your kids will still have a wonderful time and you will too seeing your kids enjoy WDW!

Sorry that your vacation has had some problems in the planning stages! I would be very upset too... whether staying at All Star or Poly, in winter or summer, everyone is entitled to good service and competance. Just remember how excited your kids will be to be there and the smiles on their faces will make it all worth while:wizard:

No flames here either...

I've been flamed tons of times about my opinion of Disney offering SSR for AKL refugees, but in the end you pay for a service. You pay for a level that you want, and the times you want to go, and Disney should provide that to you. You are their customer, not the other way around.

I have no problems with the fact repairs must be made and refurbishments must go on, but unless they are unexpected, Disney should be doing a lot more advance planning and when they fail to do so or something unexpected comes up, they need to step up and go above and beyond to make things right.

Service is what seperates the good from the bad. People are willing to spend more for better service, that has been shown a million times over, but if you cannot succeed in doing so, then you will fail, maybe not immediately, but you will.

I would be persistent with Disney to make things right. There are a ton of different ways this problem could be resolved and you have to think what is fair. In this case, a reimbursement of the preferred rooms cost and maybe something in terms of a small apology would be in order (ie. preferred seating at Fantasmic or something). But another method, would be for them to find another location for you at one of the other values in a preferred room. If there is availability, but none with your current discount code/plan, that is Disney's problem to figure out, not yours.

Oh, and as for the comment about expecting this to happen and you should change when you go...um...no...I realize repairs must happen, and I know in advance that refurbishments are going to occur more during the off season, but I go during the off season for two reasons. One, it works out great at my office and two, I don't really care for large crowds. I am not going because its cheaper, its because it is over all a better experience. This being said, if a few weeks before I go, Disney notified me that the GF was closing or the theme pool was going to be closed, I can assure you I would be getting something out of it, something I deemed is fair and equitable for all parties (and yes, I realize the GF is undergoing some refreshing with new furniture and fabrics, but I knew this going into it). The point is Disney is starting to slack-off and needs to be doing a lot more advance planning.

Wow, last time I checked there were like two other pools there at All Star Sports do you realize that, or you can put the kids in a stroller and walk the two minutes to the All Star Music or five minutes to the All Star Movies resorts which has the best pool of them all IMO anyway. You are going to Disney in what is considered the off season, when do you think they are gonna refurbish stuff?? Look at the positive side your going to Disney!!! Do you know how many people cannot afford that? Or better yet how many people have never been there and would give their right arm to go to Disney for two weeks nevermind one, and be happy with no pool at all. But you don't even have that you have at least two others available at your place in ASSp most likely and 2-6 more at the other two resorts within 5 minutes walking distance. You do realize that guests staying at any of the All Star Resorts can and do pool hop to any of the other All Star pools only. If you go during what Disney considers "off peak season" this is when they fix things like pools, rides, etc and you always run the risk of something being shut down as something always is. So make the best of it and consider yourself lucky, othterwise you'll need to go at a peak time of year or perhaps pay more money and stay at a more expensive resort, but even then your not guaranteed during the same time of year something won't be shut down. Hey I'm from Mass too and know how expensive it is to go there, heck I just went for the first time last April. But I went during the expensive time, and even joined DVC lol. Sure it cost more, but I have less chance of things like what your complaining about bothering me, or effecting my trip. There are resources out there like this board for instance and others as well. You should get familiar with them and it may help you plan the timing of your trip better. After two years of having the same issue pretty much I think I might have tried a different time to go if possible. If not then make the best of it. Good luck and hope your trip is fantastic no matter what happens.:wizard:

I would be a little put out too if I paid for preferred near main pool and it was closed.

OT will Disney give you back your preferred rate?

No flames from me either, just a suggestion. You should try posting this problem on the codes board, someone there should be able to tell you what channels to go through to get your room changed when staying with free dining. I do know that the suggestions to keep calling CRO will probably just leave you frustrated, as these people can't go beyond what they see on the computer screen in front of them. I would keep working at this, it can be frustrating dealing with ANY large corporation anymore. They put systems in place so that they can sit anyone down in front of a computer to answer phone calls, but no one knows what to do when presented with a situation that isn't in the flowchart they received during their 4 hours of training. Unfortunately, it isn't just disney, it's large companies across the board. Good luck!

No flames here... I am taking my DS8 in August and I can safely say that he would be terribly upset if the pool was closed. That is his afternoon plan almost everyday while we are there. I would definately keep working your way up the managerial chain until you get a pool close to your room for your babies. You paid for it, it was confirmed, you should get what you paid for. It's not like you paid for a room at All Star Sports and are asking to be upgraded without cause. We are staying at POP and wouldn't really want to stay anywhere else but would definately push for an upgrade if we were told the pool was closed or for a refund of our preffered room charge if we were no longer in a preferred location! You are not asking for anything you haven't paid for, keep pushing until you get it! I hope you have a magical trip and that this is just a little bump in the road.

Get downgraded from preferred and ask for building 8. It is very close to All Star Music's guitar pool. I picked Music this time because of Sports pool rehab(last year's Music pool rehab ran over) as I knew they wouldn't be redoing Music's pool this year. We were at Sports last year.

When I was making my ressies, I was told that ASSports doens't have preferred rooms. They are all standard. I went with Music. I gather your information is coming from the letters you recieved? What did a supervisor say when you called to complain? Or haven't you tried that yet?

I do hate that "For your future enjoyment" crap. Just say you're sorry, it is unavailable. Don't act like this is something good for us. Ugh.

No flames here. It is totally unacceptable that ASSp won't refund you, or move you to a different resort. I would call WDW and complain. :)

Pick up the phone..

Call CRO. Explain your circumstances and respectfully ask them to check with Guest Services about moving you to a resort where the pool is open (I'm thinking Pop Century). If they refuse, ask for a supervisor.

Continue until you *(or they on your behalf) speak to Guest Services. Speaking to Guest Services is key. The frontline CM's who answer the phone cannot help you with this. They will ALWAYS say no. Demand satisfaction and do not hang up until you have been satisfied.

I bet you they will find you something. Please report back here what happens.

Good luck!

I find this odd as we are at Sports & got that letter today but when we booked the lady told me that pool would be closed & checked to make sure that was OK with me. We booked in May/June.

As for the phrasing "For your future enjoyment." It really isn't misleading. If they didn't refurbish things then we'd all be complaining (and quit going) if things were dumpy.

There is no way you should have to pay for preferred. I would throw a fit (I'm good at that.) We are requesting the parking lot side of Baseball so we'll be close to Music's pools.

I don't know...I'm not like the majority here and think this is a big deal. Disney *should* move you to a different value if the pool closing inconveniences you.

Like another poster said, they refurbish because otherwise people complain about how "dated" it looks...Either they close and refurbish it and get complaints or they leave it open and get complaints about the condition. :confused3

Hey Pinkerbell I just have to say that I would continue complaining. I have a funny six flags story for you. We are very big rollercoaster fans and travel often to many different parks. Our park closest to our house is Six Flags in NJ. My son at the time was 3 years old and very hard to control on a line. With NO parent swap policey and almost 10 years of season passes we were DONE with the park. I had written to the CEO and the manager of the park at the time and had not herd anything. That winter we DID NOT renew our season passes and had gotten a call from the park as to why. We explained that other parks we had visited had a parent pass or some kind of parent swap system and we could spend our money else where . Well last summer was the best summer we ever had a six flags park . Not only did we get a parent swap system but we now have a special pass at our park for parents :dance3: .

I had recently went to the park in MA and we did use the parent swap policey there . Though thy don't have a pass it still worked out gret for us. I would explain that we don't have to spen our money there and there are a lot of other family friendly parks out there.

BTW the Six Flags in New England was great we all enjoyed it .Our main reason to visit was the new Thomas Town and Superman ride. My son now 5had a great time there. We also spent time in Universal last summer and at 4 he enjoyed that alot too.
Hope it all works out for you and you get at least an upgrade. I would ask for a manager or at least someone in a guest relations department. It may work out for you.

Good Luck

We too will be staying at AS sports while the pool is closed. I'm disappointed but I'm not going to let it spoil my trip. I personally would cancel if your that upset. As far as a refund goes I would insist the amount be credited.

We were at ASMo in Oct when they were refurb'g it. All you heard were bulldozers and backhoes. Not to mention the beeping when they are reversing. Just hearing it as we were walking to the lobby was enough to irritate us. Thank goodness we downgraded from preferred. We have ressies at ASsports and I'm writing to asked to be switched. I made my reservation online and if I had known the pool was going to be in refurb I would have stayed elsewhere. Crossing fingers.

No flames from me, but other posters may get some flames...

It doesn't matter when you go, or how much it costs, you shouldn't have to expect to compromise because of a refurb the resort is having. We understand refurbs happen, but Disney needs to give you another preferred room elsewhere. As a matter of fact they should be the first ones to suggest it to anyone with a preferred room close to the pool they are refurbishing. Also, if that pool is closed that means the others will be more crowded. To me that is also unfair.

Disney is expensive...I don't care what time of the year you go, you should get EXACTLY what you pay for. Sure, people are lucky to "afford to go" etc. etc., but just because its Disney doesn't mean you should suck eggs and "get over it" when they aren't trying to make things right for you. I can't believe anyone would suggest someone do that. That mentality is why there is hardly any "customer satisfaction guaranteed" practiced out there any more. They know people will get over it and come back for more no matter how bad they are treated and if they don't come back some other poor soul will. I see that happening more and more every single day.

OP - I hope that you get some changes made for the better. I wouldn't let up until I got what is important to me if I were you...after all you are the one paying for it.

I had the same question...when did you book? The pool rehab at ASSP has been known for a while, and if you booked during the recent free dining promo, it should have been known/disclosed to you. I remember reading all the people who were booking the first day on the DIS knowing that the pool would be closed. Also, is it preferred not just for the pool, but also for its proximity to the foodcourt, bus stops, lobby area? I never stayed at AS but I know Pop was that way.
