Dunkin' Donuts.... less varieties now?

They didn't have jelly filled or anything with a crunchy coating like the peanut covered ones.

Aww, I love the coconut crunchy coated ones. And jelly donuts are my favorite.

They don't even have fresh donuts at the DD around us anymore. They are all cooked 40 miles away and trucked in. If you don't get there when they arrive it's too bad. What they end up with isn't very fresh.

It's like that here too. If you don't go early in the morning you end up with a stale donut that's been sitting all day.

It's so funny you said that because there is a D&D in Watertown, MA-near where I used to live...

Still love there coffee and that's all I buy for home, but the donut selection has gone down with the addition of other menu items. We usually go to Tim Horton's now for donuts.

We're also the victims of donuts being trucked in around here. Our selection stinks and is stale. Tim Hortons is even worse.

One thing I have noticed is that the jelly donuts have a lot less jelly in them than they used to. I no longer buy any donuts as they never seem to be very fresh (and our store does a booming business so they must be delivered from a distance). Tried one of the new frozen drinks and after a few sips, I tossed it -- thought it was sickening sweet.

Just about every time I go to DD for a half dozen white icing donuts, they don't have them. Either they don't have any at all, or they have less than six. Why? I remember when DD had tons of different varieties of donuts and all of the bins were full. They focus on coffee now, it seems.

DH just got DD this morning, and he brought home jelly filled and choc. glazed cream filled, as well as a few others. But I think some DD's are franchises and independantly owned, so maybe it's partly up to the owner what they offer.

It's funny you asked about this b/c I specifically asked our store because we noticed a difference. They only make boston creme filled now- no other cream or chocolate filled variety. They also stopped making the lemon filled, butter nut (my fave ), coconut flake and other nut one and a couple of others I can't remember (maybe apple filled?). Said not enough demand.

Our is a Baskin Robbins combo. If you go to DD after about 9 am, you won't get any decent donuts. They are gone. They will have plain glazed and maybe a blueberry cake but that is about it. You'll also be stuck with cinnamon and plain glazed munchkins only.


On the Baskin Robbins side, they don't have 31 flavors and you are hard pressed to find plain vanilla ice cream or sugar cones if you get there past about 3 pm.

It is horrible, which is why we don't bother to go there anymore.

I miss the marshmallow flavored coffee they had a few years ago when they came out with that huge variety of coffee flavors.
