DUMPED THE 7/4 deal and we are staying on points at OKW......

OMG I could not stand it. It has bugged me since I booked that package. I know it is a good deal and all but I figured out today with the the help of a dear friend who is also a DVC member.....IF YOU HAVE THE POINTS USE THEM. I had to borrow some to make it happen and we are staying our last night (Sat.) on DVC discounted cash.......but I feel SO MUCH BETTER


I still have enough to borrow to get my 5 nights at BCV (hopefully can get the nights) in July. SO we are not out a lot of cash for the Jan. trip.

Something just DIDN'T FEEL RIGHT about staying in two rooms at CSR. Once you do DVC it is soooooo hard to stay in regular rooms. Plus we paid the big bucks and just recently added on to have all these points...WHY NOT USE THEM. So what if we have to borrow some over the next year. That is why they have that option. I FEEL SOOOOOOOOOO GREAT.

I booked at OKW and then called CRO and cancelled our two ressies and got the deposit credited back. Life is good.

That's great! I much prefer the DVC rooms to others, and if possible, we would always stay DVC. I borrow, add on, borrow.

I'm telling you, there is nothing like stressing about a vacation. You look forward to it and have so much invested in it besides the cost of the room, like vacation time, travel, everything you are not going to do at home (like clean out a closet!)because you took a vacation instead, etc. that 1 day on vacation is like GOLD!!

I know there are people that have their point stays booked for years and dont want to live in the moment, but we have had some excellent "caution to the wind vacations" and I dont regret 1 point I borrowed or added. Life is too short and my boys are growing so fast! 1 day they will be gone and then I can be more frugal.

Edk, I booked and paid for the free dining Value pkg after we decided at the last minute to spend a few days at WDW over Christmas break and all DVC was booked. We have expiring AP's so figured we use them 1 last time and then drive to HHI. It's been killing me ever since I booked. I was able to piece together SSR in a studio for those 3 days and if I cancel our pkg now (less than 45 days) Im out $100 or $50 to resched. We are keeping SSR and then have AKV Concierge for Christmas Eve and will drive to HHI on Christmas Day. Havent decided what to do with the pkg yet.

Well I would probably reschedule it or just be out the 100 bucks. There is just something about DVC. It is not a hotel, it is just an overall experience like no other. At least it is for us. IT has totally changed our Disney vacations. I am IN LOVE WITH DVC.

Hi Bobbi.....oh we do prefer DVC. We just love the resorts. It just makes so much sense to use the points and stay DVC. That is why we have 400 points....why not use them. You never know from year to the next when you might get to go anyway....especially with three kids' schedules.

Please reassure me that our week at All Star Sports Presidents' Week is going to be better than staying in Upstate NY where it is 20 degrees and snowing like crazy right now!

We just left 7 wonderful nights at SSR (flew home on Friday 12/5) with extended family and I've used all of our points, but cannot wait until April to visit again (Cruise and BCV)! I spent all day Saturday (12/6) figuring out how to get us to WDW in Feb!

It'll just be the boys (9 and 2) and I this trip, and I think they'll love Sports. We are doing the 4/3 deal with 7 nights, 7 day tickets, and dining for $1200 (plus we get the $200 gift card).

I was going to have someone transfer points to me, but when I called MS for availability that week, they had exactly one night (studio) at VWL and not one studio at any other DVC resort. So I booked the package.

Tell me this is better than staying home!

I am sure you will have a great time.....especially compared to the SNOW where you live. I think you will be fine with just three people and younger kids too. We have an 18, 15 and 10 and the family suite was just not our cup of tea. Have a great trip.
