Dumbo the ride is down, BUT

we saw Dumbo in person yesterday !

He was next to his ride. He gave great hugs but wasn't able to sign our books.

His handler said it was the 1st time he has ever seen him.

That is cool!! Dumbo will be down for the first half of our trip, maybe he'll still be there then.

We saw him also !! We were on the carousel yesterday afternoon, saw Dumbo and couldn't believe our eyes. Was a very nice touch since his ride was down.
Another nice touch was Mickey saying goodbye to everyone (after the Wishes fireworks) by the train station.
Wasn't it a wonderful day yesterday-----low crowds and beautiful weather!

I'll have to watch for him next week! I'd love to get a picture with him for the 'ol scrapbook. If I'm not mistaken - it seems like we saw him in the Christmas parade back in 2002. He was in the top of the red barn-like float. I tried to get his pic, but in the dark it just came out blurry.

I'd love to see someone's pic of him!

I was looking on ebay for Disney theme park stuff the other day and I ran across a very old postcard with the character Dumbo and a topiary Dumbo. I thought it was so cool to see Dumbo as a character and wondered why he was no longer out and about. I'm excited to know he still exists!! The listing may still be there, if you want to see the pic.

Why was the ride down? My son is really looking forward to that!

January, February, September and October are prime months for rides to be taken-down for weeks or months to complete necessary maintenance. There are at least a half-dozen attractions currently closed throughout the four WDW theme parks, as is the Typhoon Lagoon water park.

Dumbo closed for its maintenance cycle on January 10th and is expected to re-open February 13th.
