?Dumbest Cruising Remark Ever Heard?

On my very first cruise, on the day at sea, the ship was Carnival's Ecstasy, we were sailing past Cuba when the captain came on the speakers and told us where we were etc. A group of women next to me had this conversation, "what is Cuba anyway" "I think it is part of the United States" No kidding, I couldn't believe my ears and neither could my sister.

Are you sure these women weren't from the "Jay-Walkers" segment on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno??

was on the Big Red Boat... I won it so I went, but I would never have paid for it! I had to chuckle a bit when I heard about the poor people having to debark mid cruise so the ship could be repossessed.... Back when I went (1991) I think they were offering "land & sea" deals with Disney, but soon after it was represented by Universal... Daffy Duck and crew (Not Donald!!) So I wonder why people still equate it with Disney.....

While we were on the Magic April 6, 2002 cruise, two couples were on deck ten looking at the fire damaged funnel and I heard them agree that the ship must have bumped into something to cause the damage.

I think that The "B word" Boat had really good advertising. I can remember their commercials from before I even had kids, and thinking, "Oh, that would be a Great trip to do with kids." There must have been a Disney Character shown because I definitely related it to being a Disney thing. The only DCL advertising I can think of now is the "Our little souvenir" commercial with the Mom, talkative daughter and stroller in the elevator.

I'll try to remember some of my dumber questions in Oct. when I'm loosing my Cruiser virginity, and we'll see how well they measure up to Sonya's list!

Well, it's been fun seeing everybody try to top the silly quotes in the AAA magazine.

Anybody else got a good one?

I must say, my favorite of those I posted is How will I know which photos are mine?

"How do they get gassed up in the middle of the ocean?"

This from my MIL when we told her we were going on a cruise . . .

We were at the Officers' Q&A session; and the question was,"What's the difference between us and the Titanic?" The Officer didn't miss a beat and he answered, "Well, for one thing we're still floating." Everyone was ROTFLOL!! Then he said, "but seriously" and gave his answer.

I don't take any credit for any of these... They are from top 10 lists, question and answers and just stupid comments....

1. What is the Castaway Key (Cay) and can my whole family use it?

2. My Key To The World card isn't working, it will only open my stateroom door....

3. WOW!! The crew seems so lifelike! Disney sure has perfected audioanimatronics!

4. Q: Do I have to dress for dinner?
A: Clothing is NOT optional.

5. Can we barbeque on the veranda?

6. What will we see out the porthole when we're not in port?

7. I've heard all about the dining rotation so let me get this straight... First we have our appetizer in Animator's Palate, then we move to Parrot Cay for the main course and finish up with dessert at Lumiere's?

8. We've heard all about how we might get to see the Space Shuttle launch from aboard the ship. Which smoke stack does it launch from?

9. My birth certificate, driver's license, social security card, marriage certificate, passport, military ID, library card and bus pass all have a different name on them. Will this be a problem when I try to clear customs?

10. What is the worst thing that can happen on board (as far as Disney is concerned)? Wallet Overboard.....

And finally....

(My favorite!) One of the CMs just asked to see my "hidden Mickey"... is this proper??

Let's see if you can come up with any more!!!:smooth:

OK I have two more to add to the list

" Is that island completely surrounded by water?"

and

" What is the elevation of the ship ?"

Any more out there?

Huey - I have to know if anyone answered #8? Or did everyone just stand there shaking their heads?

fran:confused:

I thought of another one that I've heard:

"Does the crew sleep on the ship?" (No, we put them out in a lifeboat and tow them in the back.)

We were on a Disney Wonder cruise, and docked next to the Big Red Boat in Nassau, the day it went into receivership. That day, they told the guests to find a way home. That night, the crew, who realized they weren't going to be paid, broke into the liquor cabinet, and had a heck of a party on board.

Here's a couple more:

"What time is the 8:00 p.m. show?"

"What if we hit an iceberg?" (On a Caribbean Cruise???)

"How did they find an Island with a harbor you could pull a ship up to?"

"Where's Cathy Lee?"

"Is my room on the port side, or the left side?"

Oh, MY!!!! I like that one TOO!!! :earsgirl: :bounce:

Deb in Iowa, you are correct in that those women should of been on Jay Walking for Jay Leno. I also remembered another, this came from on land after our trip. A friend of mine was curious to how islands stayed in the same place, don't they float? She was shocked when I informed her islands are a part of the earth just like the continents were. Islands do not float. Another one for the Jay Walking segment. Kathy

Unbelievable! But true. Off the subject, I work with a woman who does not turn left when driving. Only makes right turns.

You should have told your friend that the two or three days at sea (on 7 day) are needed to "Find" the islands....

It takes two days to find St. Thomas and St. Maarten but just one day to get back to Castaway Cay (the Disney Imagineers realized the importance of anchoring the island....)

As for the western... The Keys area part Florida so they're safe from irratic floatation but it still takes a day to find Grand Cayman.... Cozumel has a unique underwater land bridge to the Youcatan so it's not going anywhere.....

I have too much time on my hands.....:smooth:

This from my MIL when we told her we were going on a cruise . . .

I laughed out loud at this one, tstobb!! Pretty good one.

She also wanted to know if there were 7 horn players or just 1 for the "When you wish upon a star"!
