I'm in the planning stages for next year (yes I know, a bit obsessive :rolleyes1 ) and definetely want to do O'hanas. We'll be staying at the Poly and I know my kids (ages 5, 8 and 10) will love it. We are staying 6 nights and my other dinners so far (subject to change, of course) are:

HDDR
Chef Mickeys
Boma

I'd like to try Kona but don't know if it is too much Poly with only 6 nights (so much food, so little time :sad2: ).

Also, if anyone has any suggestions for another TS, I'd love any advice. Just not Le Cellier - yes it is great but we ate there last time and although me and DH thought it was awesome, the kids were not too excited about going back. Thanks!

Kona and Ohana are totally different experiences so I say do them both. Last time I was at Poly I had dinner at Ohana and breakfast and dinner at Ohana. I never felt like I was spending too much time at Poly - but then again, I love the place so no time there is too much.

Your kids might also like Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL if they aren't too shy. Some kids love it, but I would have hated it as a 10 year old.

I wish I was able to do both, we had to make the choice for one though :( and chose Kona, but we definately werent disapointed!

They are both totally different places to eat. I would do dinner at both. We have and Kona is wonderful. The lobster bisque is to die for, not to mention all the other stuff too. Do both you will love them. Its great too, to eat dinner at your home resort, not to far to walk back to your room, or more time to enjoy the pool, etc..... :)

They are both great, the only thing I wouls say with the little ones is will doing Kona prevent you doing anohter one you really want to do with them, 6 nights is not a lot.

Do them both! They are both incredible restaurants and the kids will love them. :cloud9:

Kona and 'Ohana are completely different in atmosphere and menu. If you are staying at the Poly, it makes plenty of sense to eat at both. :thumbsup2

I figure there is no such thing as "Too much Poly." I believe that if there is heaven, it looks like the Polynesian :)

If you run out of nights you can do Kona for lunch. A lot of the menu is the same. :sunny:

I would say do both! We tried Kona this time and it was awesome! My dh ordered a filet that nearly melted in my mouth! We both thought it was better than our steaks at Le Cellier. I ordered the scallops and shrimp. Also very good, but I am not a huge fan of wasabi and it was really loaded with it.

It looks like I am in the minority, but I'm not sure I would do both. Between the two, I would do Kona, but that is up to you. :) I just don't think the foos at Ohana is good at all.

There are so many great restaurants in the other resorts .. fun placed to see and explore .. that I would go someplace else. What about Spoodles, Grand Floridian Cafe, or Cape May?

Your kids will LOVE the Kiddie Kone at Kona*I think they spell it Kone?
It is this giant ice cream thing held in place with some cotton candy. My kids want to go back just for that. And we had great service there . We are staying at the poly and currently have a dinner at Ohana, Kona and an Ohana breakfast planned(I wanted a Kona breakfast but Lilo and Stitch won) There are so many times that I plan dinners all over the place then at the end of the day I want to just stay at the hotel. So I feel safe with all that POLY.

Do both and enjoy, my DD swears that Kona makes the best grilled cheese sandwich on the property! Have fun!

We did both and loved them both a few weeks ago. As everyone has said they are different experiences both in atmosphere and in food.
I booked Kona for our arrival day, figuring everyone would be tired from the trip and we would prefer not to stray too far from our hotel. I was right. We did 'OHana later in the week and the kids loved it. As others have said, it is not a bad thing to be at your hotel after long days in the parks, at the pool etc. It is just a short walk to your room, which can be a blessing.
If you decide not to do 2 meals at the Poly, think about some of the WS restaurants, there are many really good ones. We really enjoy Rose & Crown for its food, the atmosphere, and the best CM's. The kids might also like another of our "must do's" - Teppanyaki. The chefs entertain as they cook your meal, and it usually keeps the kids enthralled. The tables are for 8 however, so you would be sitting with another family group.
Go to allearsnet.com and check out the menus for all of the restaurants you think you might enjoy. This may help you to decide.
Have fun planning!!

We just got back from and had dinner at both Ohana's and Kona. Ohana's was ok - hubby liked it more than I did - the best things were the salad and the wontons. Kona's - everything was great. Kona was a last minute change and we got the ADR for the time we wanted. We were very pleased, the crabcakes and the steak are awesome.

I appreciate the great advice from all :thumbsup2 . I was leary of Kona's with the kids but it sounds like a lot of Diser's kids enjoyed it so we'll be giving it a try. Now our dinners so far would be HDDR, Chef Mickey's, Boma, O'hana's and Kona.

Now, if I can just get that elusive one last TS I'm all set (until I change my mind again, of course  ).
