I am planning on making several t-shirts for our upcoming trip in September...I have ordered t's and the transfers based on suggestions here. I ended up getting some of the dark transfer paper and the light (for white t's) I had read that the dark actually make more vibrant designs on any color t. I also read that there is no need to flip or do the mirror image with the dark transfer paper. I do not understand that, is that true? Also, should I prewash and dry and then wash again and dry (inside out) after transferring? This is my first time so I am full of questions and in need of a little pixiedust:

The need to flip or not flip really depends on the transfer paper - most dark you do not need to flip and most light you do - but that is not a rule - read your personal directions carefully regarding this.

The dark transfer is placed right side up when ironing it on which is why it doesn't need to be flipped. The light you flip upside down when ironing on - which is why you need to flip the design. Does that make sense?

Be sure to prewash and dry BEFORE ironing. (no fabric softner or dryer sheets). Washing after is your preference. I normally wait until after my trip so that the shirts are still crisp and new. (and are already clean) Then after my trip, I tend to to wash and dry them inside out - if I remember.

I hope this helps!
