This might sound like the dumbest question ever...but aftr having stayed at POR with no elevators in aligator bayou I must ask. Do the longhouses at the Polynesian have elevators in them? specifically the Hawaii building?

I feel dumb asking, but my aunt can't do stairs, so i need to know...thanks in advance for your help!

I don't know the answer, but I'm certain someone will. Just want to say that it's not a dumb question :).

All longhouses except Niue have elevators. With Niue you just use the adjacent longhouse's elevator and walk across a bridge.

You'll love the Poly.

thanks XstAnt

I have never stayed at the poly so i don't know quite what to expect. Have you ever stayed at the Hawaii building? whats it like? anyone else want to confirm Hawaii has elevators..would put my poor aunts mind at ease! :D

I will confirm that Hawaii has an elevator. XStAnt is correct. The only building at the Polynesian that doesn't have it's own elevator is Niue. It shares an elevator with Rarotonga then access to Niue's second floor (it's only a 2 story building) is via a bridge over the walkway below.

I stayed in the Hawaii building back in the early 70's, back when it was called Tonga. Back then, garden-view rooms were only about $44/night. Oh, how things have changed.

Yes, it's one of the best buildings in which to stay at the Polynesian (in my opinion). Very close to both pools and the beach. If you have lagoon-view, you'll be able to watch the fireworks over Cinderella's castle.

Visit this site for everything you've ever wanted to know about the Polynesian: http://tikiman2001.homestead.com/index.html

At that site, you can click the button next to "Hawaii" and read all about it. It's also labeled "Page 21". It also shows a room map of the building in case you have a preference to tell them before you check in. Just keep in mind that the ground floor rooms have patios. The 3rd floor rooms have balconies. The second floor rooms have NO balconies!

Jungle Josh ... YES .... Hawaii definitely has an elevator .... It's right next the check-in lounge on first floor.... next to food lounge on 2nd floor. It's on the side of the bldg closest to the pool. Your aunt will love this building ... very central to everything!!!

Thanks everyone! You guys are the bestest! :hugs:

Rarotonga!! Thanks Parrothd, I couldn't remember the name of the building. I had a brain freeze:rolleyes: .

$44.00/night???!!! I am so jealous, even if it was the 1970s. I wonder what that translates to in today's dollars.

Oh yeah......for comparison sake, that same $44/night, garden-view room in the early 70's, is costing me $344/night (for 10 nights mind you) this coming June. Heavy sigh!!!!!!! :earseek:
