I'm wondering why the discounts stop on August 15 for most of the Disney and area resorts. Aren't most school systems gearing up for fall opening?

They usually come out with a new discount for late August/Sept.

While many school districts in the north open in early September, Florida and other southern states start in mid August. Mid August normally starts value season and is the height of hurricane season. Won't stop us, though

I'm wondering, too! In a year when FD was offered for nearly any time you wanted to go, why would Disney exclude that one week in August? I can't explain it.

(Duh for me). I should have remembered about the value/regular/peak seasons. I guess I should be a little more patient and wait for those end of summer discount. Thinking about a third week of Aug trip. So far I have not been impressed wtih the quotes on the Disney web site.

yeah, i think all of us who want late summer/fall are just getting impatient. it would be nice to plan better, knowing what discount we will get, but i guess we will have to wait a little longer. my trip is booked, but i'm hoping for free dining as we will have 5 people on the dining plan so we will save around $1,000 with fd!! I might add a day to my trip if we get fd, but if we don't get a discount I may have to shave a day off our existing trip to save money
