Dumb question??

I thought I read in a post somewhere where a person who didn't want to buy into SSR would possibly be able to buy points from another resort BWV, VWL etc. except for BCV and have the financing through Disney rather than the resales. Am I right on this??? Also, if this info is correct, then can one buy into these resorts as a "newbie" or is it strictly "add-ons" for those who have already bought into a DVC ??? Also, can one buy less than the 150 points in this case and add on later on???

Yes you can buy from Disney, I did at BWV last year. You have to buy 150 points or more.

Call your guide to see what's available. It will cost you more than resales, but it's more convenient. It depends on whether you are willing to wait for RORF etc. We bought two 100 point contracts at VWL through DVC this summer at $92/point (I believe). It was tempting to go the re-sale route, but we snapped them up because we really wanted to own VWL (and I'm lazy).

Yup, you can. My DH and I just bought in as newbies for 150 VWL points. The prices actually came to be about the same.. most of the VWL resales are going for $88-$90/point, and they're usually stripped contracts & you have to pay closing costs. We paid $92/point and got 2005 points with no dues due on them.

Call your guide and ask, the guide we had was surprisingly easy going & didn't push us on SSR at all (He said "I have to tell you about SSR..." went through his speech, and then put us on the list for VWL points.)

And you can buy BCV direct... they just have a really long waiting list.

Thanks sooo much for the info. I saw pictures of SSR and I'm sure the resort is beautiful BUT I just don't "feel good" about purchasing into SSR. I think I'd rather BCV or BWV because we LOVE EPCOT and what better spot. That, and we ran into "problems" and won't have the full deposit for a purchase at this time. It will take me about a month or so to "recoup" funds for expenses for pleasure.
