x-rays can ruin exposed & non-exposed film for camera's.

Carry-on luggage gets x-rayed - right ? a no-no for film.

Checked-in luggage gets x-rayed ??? (I would hope so) - a no-no for film

So where do you pack 11 rolls of film , 4 camera's and a camcorder (last one will
definitely be carried by my DH) ?

Thanks for any help :)

Checked luggage is not typically xrayed. The machines at the security checkpoint have a very low radiation dose, but you can ask if they'll hand check your film.

if your bags are going internationally then yes it can be xrayed. in fact they have special machines for that here in pittsburgh. all those stories that you hear of film being exposed and ruined are just that stories.

Our film went through at least two different carry-on scanners on the way to WDW. Some of the rolls were from other trips and have probably been scanned many times. We shot seven rolls on our Orlando vacation, and I handed them (in a plastic bag) to the security person for hand examination when we went through the checkpoint on return, for my own peace of mind. There were no problems with any of the photos. I agree with other posts, I think the security scans, have little, if any effect on your film. :D

I use very high speed sensitive film when I travel. I ask for it to be handchecked and have never had a problem.
I just take it through with me and they hand scan it when they scan me. They scan me because I refuse to give up my cane and send it through the xray machine. Don't care to fall flat on my face without it

Has anyone ever had film ruined by being x-rayed? I've never met anyone who has, and I'm wondering if it is really a risk, except for extremely sensitive film (or x-ray plates, maybe.) I know that a lot of people are afraid airport x-ray machines will damage laptop computers, but I have come to believe, after a fair amount of research, that they won't.
