Dumb Question - Walking from RIV to Epcot?

Sorry if this is obvious/stupid (having never stayed at RIV), but it looks really close to Epcot on the map.

I understand that the International Gateway is on the "BCV side", so the opposite side of RIV, but it's not that far to walk across World Showcase, so I guess I'm trying to gauge how far it is to walk around the outside of World Showcase.

Or is the problem that there is a lack of sidewalks/trails rather than just the distance?

Thanks!

Wow, I just looked on a map and yes you're right, it's very close. Absolutely SHOULD be in walking distance. But NO, Disney absolutely wouldn't want you to walk there. There are absolutely no sidewalks. Classic Disney / Florida. Just like how you can't walk from AKL to AK. I'm sure there are a lot of back of house / staging areas that they don't want you to see / need to protect.

There is no simple path/trail to walk from Riviera to EPCOT. There might be a path you could find following sidewalks along Buena Vista Blvd, but I don't think so.

Thanks very much! That was my suspicion...

Any roads you see are backstage. I did a gig at EPCOT and my assigned parking was right behind the American Adventure. No guests are allowed in that area.

I guess Disney figures that the Skyliner is fine, so no reason to let people walk/worry about making a sidewalk.

I have never been on the skyliner, but have no problem with the idea of it. Just sometimes it's nice to walk.:duck:

It does seem that Disney discourages pedestrians in a lot of areas. There are a lot of places that there would normally be sidewalks like Victory Way and Buena Vista Dr.
The Skyliner is a nice ride between Riviera and EPCOT. This does open up the dining choices for Riviera with a quick ride to EPCOT.

I think Disney wants to minimize the issue of pedestrians crossing busy roadways at WDW. Have you ever been to Disneyland and watched the hordes crossing Harbor Blvd. to the entrance plaza?
