Dumb question... Pressed pennies

DH has an Asia trip coming up for business and will have a free Sunday in Tokyo. He's considering a TDR visit and he'd like to bring back pressed pennies for DD's collection.

We have maps with penny machine locations, but what coins will he need? A US Penny, I assume... But what coins to cover payment?

Actually, the machine provides the coin that is pressed. Something that looks like a penny (i.e. copper colored) but it's not a penny. I loved it - all shiny and new. Payment is with 100 yen coins.
