Dumb Question: Paying for CRT with DDP?

Sorry for the dumb question, but a search revealed nothing.

We are WDW veterans but DDP rookies, and am in the planning stage for December 2024. We have never used a DDP before, and my DD wants CRT. But since that is paid for prior - how does that work with your TS credits?

Are credits taken-out at the time of ADR booking (i.e. way before your actual DDP kicks in when you arrive at WDW)? OR does it need to be paid and then the money credited back in exchange for TS credits when the ADR is used? OR can you just not use the DDP for CRT?

Thanks for any help.

You pay when you book. They take the credits (2 pp) and refund
per plan Disney:
So many Guests like yourself are excited for the return of the Disney Dining Plan next year, and you can count me in that group, too! In order to answer your question, I want you to know that practices may evolve between today and when you are able to make your advanced dining reservations for Cinderella's Royal Table. Currently, according to a helpful Cast Member that I contacted, Guests will be required to prepay for Cinderella's Royal Table in order to secure a reservation. Then when the Magical day arrives and you are seated at your royal table, you can inform your server that you would like to use your Disney Dining Plan to pay. 2 Dining Credits will be deducted for every member in your party and your credit card that you used to prepay will be reimbursed for the amount that you prepaid. The last time my family dined at Cinderella's Royal Table and utilized the Disney Dining Plan to pay, that was how it worked for us as well.

Can't help because it's been so long I did this I don't remember or might not be the same but ...

Thanks so much for the info!

If you have the DDP on your reservation when you book, a choice will be given if you want to prepay or use credits. If you use credits there is no charge but they are not deducted from your pool ahead of time. This is if there are no glitches.

When you go to dine, your server usually confirms what you chose for payment. If you want to switch from prepay or credits you can change at this time. If you use up your credits ahead of time, since they were not taken from your allotment prior, will need to pay at the dinner.

I chose to prepay this time because I wasn’t sure how I wanted to use my credits yet. But when I had the DxDP I always selected to use the credits when booking
