Just wondering if you have to present your card right when you sit down to let the server know, or show them when your bill comes.

At this time, it is presented when the bill arrives.

The server then takes the bill and the DDE card and has a manager approve the discount, then returns the card and a bill showing the discounted amount.

In agreement and to add to what the OP said ,On our last visit when we would check in for our ADR's the host/hostess would ask if we were on the dining plan or DDE. This happened to us at all of our ADR's.

I have never been asked if I have the DDE, I have been asked if I am on the DDP.. I wonder if they are now asking for both dining options..

I haven't ever been asked about DDE either. It was always up to me to present the card when the bill came.

I havent been asked about our DDE card either....but presented it after our meal was pretty close to being finished......we were there in September.

With the included tip starting January 1, I plan not to present my card until my bill is ready. I do worry that the included gratuity will remove some incentive to provide great service.

We've never been asked either--.
When we first got the card, I started to let the servers know upfront. But every time I did that, they said they'd take care of that "later" (ie when the bill came). So we just stopped saying anything about it and just put it out when the dining check arrived.

Sorry to hijack the thread but we are annual pass holders due to our wedding and i was wondering if this card is worth buying or not??

DDE is worth it if you plan on eating at sit down venues.. you save 20% on food and alcohol, but and not to bring this discussion back up, in 2008, they will add an 18% gratuity on your bill. So, in essence, if you planned on giving the server a 20% tip, Disney has handled that for you by adding an 18% tip on your bill and all the math is done for you. If you choose to leave additional, you can, but it is not required. So they will take the 20% off the bill and add back 18% for the tip.

so sorry to sound silly as we have never had this before you only really save 2%?
