Crowd levels

We got there at 5:30 and security was long and we waited a bit for a tram. Some trams came and drove through and left. We were at Mickey and friends parking area. We also got dropped off inside instead of our usual which is on the street in front where we can just go to the escalator.

I like going in the mornings. We just wanted to see the parade, castle show and fireworks.

First time we have gone in the evening. Just a different experience for us! This info has been very helpful!

It's half marathon weekend. Would that make a difference in the evening crowds?
That's what some folks on Reddit were saying, but knowing that runners get park passes, wouldn't Disney have reduced the number of available MK and general public reservations to make the total a manageable number?

Some commenters said that it wasn't so bad inside Disneyland, that the big problem was DCA closing at 9:00 and the Esplanade being jammed with people trying to move over to DL with not all the entrance turnstiles being open.

I don’t think it had anything to do with the marathon or MK sales. Since the beginning of August, there’s been a local surge in people going out on the weekends. Not sure what’s causing this - consumer confidence?

Reports were that it was taking 60-90 minutes to get from TS to the esplanade - the parking garages had a shorter wait, probably since most MK are the lower tiers and their parking discount is valid only at TS. DCA closing and PTN happening at the same time probably lead to the the 30+ minute wait to get into the park.

Do you mean park passes for runners included with their race registration? Runners have to buy park tickets separately if they want to go after their race. Before I had an annual pass, I ran a few Disney half marathons where I'd drive down, run and then head home without ever going in the parks :)
