My DS6 LOVES :lovestruc the game show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire." I honestly don't know what his fascination with it is.

Anyway, we have never seen the one at MGM studios. I have seen pictures, and it does truly look like the set from TV. I think my son will enjoy it. How long does the show run approximately? I just fear that it won't hold DS3's attention for long, lol, not much does at that age  If he does start a roaring tantrum, can we leave during the show?

Any thoughts appreciated! ::MickeyMo

That's neat that he's so interested in it! Yes, the MGM set looks just like the original. Actually, I just saw a return-of-champions type of thing a week or two ago that was actually filmed at the Studios in WDW. Each session isn't very long - approx. 1/2 hour (maybe). And there is audience participation which allows you to choose your own answers on a button pad thingy during the game. This also generates an audience leader board. So I think your son will stay interested if he is able to play along and to watch the leader board to see if he makes it :) Enjoy it!

Thanks for the reply Stacy!

I think DS6 will defintely love it if he can participate too! The little one might just like pushing the buttons, lol! I think we may try in the afternoon, nice cool A/C while it's sweltering outside. Do they have fastpasses? What times do they do this?

My trusty passporter says that it does NOT have fastpass (removed in 2004), but there are 600 seats in the round, so I wouldn't worry about waiting very long. Oh yeah, and this passporter confirms that it is a 30 minute show. Gotta love this book :teeth: I don't know how often the run the shows, but I do remember waiting in my seat a few minutes before the next show began. So perhaps every hour to give time for the first show to exit before the second show enters?

we talked to a CM when we were waiting for the show to start while sitting down in the fastest finger section (got a special pass to do so) and they said that it is now the official set for the real show, and they closed up shop in NYC. They anticipate Meredith coming back in January to tape another seasons worth of shows.

The "show" itself isn't very long, I was kind of disappointed, because if someone got to $16,000 then you were almost guaranteed not to get a shot to get into the hot seat. They also allow young kids to play, with their parents help, so that stretches the time out as well, but it's so fun to see them down there, as long as they can handle the pressure! It's addicting, I don't know how many times we actually went in (both to get out of the rain/heat and to enjoy the experience).

No more FP's? Hmmm, trying to schedule around seeing the new Stunt Show for DH, and Playhouse Disney in the AM for the little guy..... I know MGM is the smallest park, but I swear, we always leave things unfinished. We usually only schedule 1 day in MGM, but we just can't get in the shows for all our varied tastes  But we gotta do this one, I just know DS6 is gonna flip for it!

BTW ShellyShellfish, how did you get a special pass for the fastest finger section? If older DS wants to go back on our last day there maybe this would be something to consider ::yes::

Thanks again!

I'm fairly certain there are still fastpasses. When I was there in February they had them, we went there first thing inside MGM and got FP's for the first show, which was at 11:00.

The shows are aimed to be 30 minutes, but they could be as little as 25 or as much as 40 depending on how well the final contestant does. They'll end the show when a contestant loses a question and there's not enough time to seat another contestant and have him get to the expected win level.

Yes, you can leave in the middle. I've done it before because DS had to use the restroom. There are CM's at the top of the stairs that will lead you to the closest stairs to go back down without being seen. If you anticipate leaving, ask if you can sit towards the top. (As you enter they sometimes point at where to sit).

my not quite 10 yr old DD will love this also. She loves the tv and jeopardy.
can't wait.

There were definately still Fast Passes a few months ago when I was there, however unless it is a really busy period we have always managed to walk in without them.

With regards to your youngest child, I'm fairly certain you could ask a steward on the way in if you could be sat near the exit. That way if a tantrum does start up you can make a hasty exit!

Just to make this clear (it hasn't specifically been mentioned yet) everyone in the audience plays all the time, even when there is someone in the hot seat so your child should be kept amused pressing the buttons to answer the questions. One time when we were there a twelve year old was one question away from winning a Disney Cruise! Hope you enjoy it- we certainly did!

As of October 2004, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire has been removed as a FASTPASS attraction
