I have never been to DTD. We are staying at SSR this time (also a first) and were wondering about DTD. Is there an admission fee? All we would want to do is shop and maybe eat... we are not interested in Pleasure Island or anything.

TIA...

The only time you need to pay for entry at DTD is if you go inside the Pleasure Island clubs, go inside Disney Quest, or to see a show at Cirque.

Otherwise, you can walk around for free, enter the shops and resturaunts for free. :p

There is an admission fee to Pleasure Island in the evenings. The rest of Downtown Disney is free to walk around and shop.

Enjoy. I love it down there! :goodvibes

Nope, no admission fee!! Lots of places to shop and a few places to eat. Great way to spend half a day.

Nope DTD Marketplace has no admission fee, that's usually covered by all the stuff you come home with :rotfl:

There are lots of good restaurants in DTD, but they tend to get really crowded at night, plan on waiting, especially for Rainforest Cafe

It's even free to go to Pleasure Island now! As of last summer you only pay when you want to gointo a club. You can go to any of the restaurants without paying admission. So you can mosey around there as well.....always good people watching! See below which was taken from the AllEars website.....

Pleasure Island is the night-time entertainment district at Downtown Disney. It consists of themed nightclubs, restaurants and shops.

HOURS - Pleasure Island is open 7 p.m. until 2 a.m.

As of August 15, 2004, Pleasure Island extended its "open gate" policy, which means that entry to the island is free -- you only have to pay if you wish to enter one of the nightclubs. Once you pay admission to a club (either by using some kind of ticket media, or by paying cash), you will be given a wristband, which will allow you entry into any of the other nightclubs on Pleasure Island that night.

NOTE: If you wish to dine at one of the restaurants on Pleasure Island and not go into the clubs, you do not have to pay admission.

Age Requirements: You must be 18 or older unless accompanied by an adult or guardian to enter most Pleasure Island nightclubs. BET Soundstage and Mannequins require you to be 21 or older to enter.

ENJOY!!!! KAthy :earsgirl:

You can not not go to DTD. When you go make sure you eat at Earl of Sandwich. Me and DW are making a special run to EOS when we go to FL in October. After we leave from visiting my dad in Boyenton Beach, we are headed straight for EOS before going to our resort. Yummmy :goodvibes

I love DTD...it is almost a park in itself for us (a great big shopping park!). The Marketplace section is my favorite, I could spend hours there. We had a wonderful ice cream sundae at Ghiradelli's last time too...they have free samples in the store. The carmel squares are incredible, we bought a large bag to take home with us...

Earl of Sandwich another favorite.

As for the West Side, probably our favorite restaurant was Wolfgang Pucks. Had a really nice meal there...

Can't wait to go to DTD to buy more Disney post-its!!!

We'll be purchasing our PAL Mickey at DtD on our first night, but are there any special events he will respond to there?

Thanks!
